How did you make the boxes? Also is there a recipe for the fudge?

I was at a large country fair yesterday, and saw two wonderful Christmas present ideas in the craft marquees which I am all excited about trying to replicate ......
Firstly there were some large cushions in the shape of each of the letters of the alphabet, which had been sewn in lovely pastel and floral fabrics (a bit like Laura Ashley or Cath Kidston style). Each letter was probably about 18" high, and looked a bit like these :

They were on sale for about £60 each I think - I'm sure there's a lot of work involved in making them, but I'm sure it would be possible to enlarge letters of the alphabet on my computer and/or photocopier to use as templates, so it might be worth having a shot at making them.
Secondly, there was a company selling range cooker tea-towels which were about 35" wide. They'd sewn a strip of popper fasteners onto them so they were a continuous tea-towel which wouldn't fall off the rail. I thought this would be a perfect gift to make for a some of my friends - you don't even need to have an aga/rayburn, as they could be made to fit any oven door which had a rail. I think I might embroider or cross-stitch my friends' initials or a short message onto the towels to personalise them. The company were selling quite plain ones for £20!0 -

My eldest has cushions spelling his name on his bed. BUT i got plain red square cushions (Tesco i think) and cut the letters out of white felt (large letters almost fill the cushion iyswim), stitched them on with white embroidery thread! Was fab when he was learning to spell his name. Have got the cushions and felt ready to do the same for my middle one, just need to find the time to do it!Slightly worn out mum to 3 (DS1 May 03, DS2 Feb 05, DD1 Feb 08). When i grow up i think i'll become a UN Peace keeper....0 -

Except my DD's name has 9 letters. Think I'll give that one a miss - shame coz it's a lovely idea.:TDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
