Rainmac, the door hanger thing was really easy, I only used 4 ovals of card and then the embellishments. I might do some for xmas but I haven't got any xmas papers yet.

melissa have I missed a picture of your door hangers? have looked back but can't see it:D would love to see a picture:D

Just concocted a sort of 'everyday survival tin' to pop in with sons 40th birthday pressie.
    I've done
rubber band -to help you be flexible -things may not always go as you want
Band aid - to heal hurt feelings, yours or someone elses
Eraser -to make your mistakes disappear - after you've learned from them
String - to keep it all together when life seems to be falling apart
Candle - to light up any dark moments you may have
Coin (5p) - so you'll never be completely broke
Blu-tak - to help you stick with it if the going gets tough
Cotton wool ball - to soften the rough roads of life
Button - to remind you to sometimes 'button your lip'
Smiley face - to help you start and end your day with one
Pencil - to write down your blessings every day
Musical note - Music is good for the soul. Listen to your favourites while you read your blessings
Tissue - for tears of sadness or joy
Heart - to remind you that you are always loved no matter what
Musical notes - for relaxing after a hard day Music is good for the soul
A Flower - to remind you that however stressful life gets, dont forget to stop and smell the flowers

Don;t think I can get any more in the little tin....................lol It's a little silver tin I found that we'd had hot chocolate mix in. I've filled it with bits and pieces I'd already got (musical notes, heart and smiley face were in a scrapbook kit and the flower was from my card making stuff) so really the whole thing cost me nothing................even better:j

Oooer...........just realised I put a paper clip in...............thats supposed to be for holding something together.............any ideas ?

Hi all have loved this thread to date, caught up today finally!

There are so many fab ideas, I wanted to add one more for anyone who may be interested... It's not the cheapest, nor most expensive gift but very unique... a site called:

We have used them at work - they do books and you can design your own with their templates, then just order the one if you want to for less than £15 including delivery! You can get a softback, hardback and even hardback with dustjacket for that price. They have lots of ideas on there and to me it looks just great. You could do a portfolio of photographs, a poetry book, a wedding book, holiday book, some text and photos, recipe book and so much more...

My mum lives in Portugal and writes for a paper there, so I am going to collect all the clippings of her articles and try to scan them or type them in, alongside photos of her/family etc. Then she will have lots of her articles in a proper book - the cut out ones she has are yellowing a bit now. I have even sneakily contacted the paper and they are going to be my cohorts in the surprise, e-mailing me some of the articles etc...

I'll have a look at that. I sort of co-wrote a story with someone a couple of years back and at the moment its just sitting in a ring binder.I'd love to have put it in some kind of book form, just for myself as its the first one I've ever written. Depends on costs though -as does everything at the minute.
    Thanks:j

bunbun - it wasn't a "door hanger" like Rainmacs, it was a heart shape made out of card that you could hang on a door. I think it was posted a few pages ago.

What a fantastic idea I hadn't thought about this. Should have really as my niece has just done this using her mums journals from the last 35 years. She has made a fantastic job of it as she too wanted to preserve her mums record as mum died when niece was 13.

Question though I have always wanted to do a book for my grandchildren, have the ideas written down and my DIL wants to illustrate it for me, she is an amazingly talented artist. However my grandchildren are 2 and under so I would like thicker pages any idea where I could get this done. I would love to give one to each of them, 4, for christmas.

    hi all,

I've had a PJ day today as worked all week and just feel so fatigued so Ive read this entire thread and think Ive got Christmas 2008 sorted.... Thanks everyone thats a HUGE weight off me!

Any ideas on where I could get a pattern for a bag with lots of pockets? My friend is going travelling soon so I would like to give her a security concious handbag of sorts which she can keep her passport/currency etc in to limit getting pickpocketed in one of these dodgy places she's planning on seeing....

    Thanks

    Jen

These may be useful too, Not to sure about the pins but I assume you would add a warning to remove them before use!
