I have finally finished my cross stitch for my parents' 40th wedding anniversary. it is a picture of them on their wedding day. it has only taken me about 4 years and will now be a Christmas present!! just have to get it framed now. apologies for the photo - it is not brilliant.

  • Hi All,

Need to pick your brains for a couple of ideas,
first I need a sock monkey pattern, I've looked at a few and they dont seem to explain it too well.
And second, i'm on a very tight budget this xmas (aren't we all!) and am tryin to put together a hamper for my mum, but have only got about a tenner to spend. Was thinking of doing a flannel muffin/yule log as I can put this in my friends hamper too. And I like the idea of the chocolate slabs, how are everyone making these? Any particular type of chocolate being used?
Thanks all, i've left it all so late this year :o(

A cheapish bar of soap would look nice, you could always take it out of the packet and it would smell nice when she opened the basket. Have look in your local charity shop too, a lot of them are putting gift boxes out now that people have donated. You could split one of these up. How about a diary and nice pen or a note book, cheap one then cover it yourself.

I recently found this site and it shows how to do lots of crafty things, would this help with the money?

The chocolate slabs can be made with supermarkets own brand of chocolate, I used Asda's own milk and morrisons white label chocolate mixed together. This chocolate melted easier than Cadburys (which is too expensive anyway!) and tastes lovely.

Hi all, been trying to catch up on everyones projects to get some motivation as I'm so far behind now! Still need to make:

Knitted tiger sweater for DS (finished apart from sewing up and sewing eyes)
Knitted shawl for DH grandmother (don't know why I'm bothering as she wont appreciate it and it's going to take me forever but at least it's MS as I've had the wool kicking around for years lol)
2 x pyjama cases for DH niece and nephew (a bit stuck with these as I have fabric but no real idea as to what to do with it!)
LOTS of baking nearer the time

Oh and costume for DS nativity play to be finished by next weekend...

It doesn't help that builder has finally started work on our flood damage and we have no useable downstairs at the moment. Must get on though as the alternative would be to buy things which I would seriously resent!

If anyone has any suggestions for the pyjama cases I would be so grateful. I got a real bargain with the pjs but they will be a bit of a rubbish present by themselves.

    Thanks xxx
