Rainmac - the craft warehouse sounds great. I live in Daventry so I will definately have to go when OH gets back from China - will need to go without the kids.

    Def. go without kiddies ;)

Hiya, got a real bargain in a charity shop yesterday, a giant cup and saucer for 20c, in perfect condition, in fact I got a binbag full of clothes for €5! Really pleased. also got a gorgeous giant rag doll also in perfect condition, unfortunately my little girl was with me and spied it, so can't wash it and give it from santa (my original plan). Anyway, my question is, I want to plant a flower in the cup for Mammy for christmas, but no idea what or when would be the best time (so not green fingered, once killed a cactus by overwatering it  ). Help  ??

What bargains kbl! What about planting a bulb in the cup? I'm not really green fingered either but if you look on packets or ask at a garden centre they would be able to advise what would be best. I know I've seen bulb planting sets in gift boxes for Xmas - hyacinth and crocus I think but there must be lots of others.

    Hi!
I'm going to make my mum a meerkat themed hamper as she loves meerkats. I will include the meerkat manor dvds, a meerkat book, cuddly toy and some other bits and pieces meerkat related.

    Hi Hun

i saw you mentioned that you were moving to hampshire soon - was goign to suggest for the meerkat hamper why dont you adopt a meerkat for her?? they dont cost alot to adopt being that they are so little and she could have a trip to visit her meerkat then too and know shes looking after an actual animal too.

In hampshire there isa fab zoological park called Marwell, ive been going there since i was 3 years old - my nan lives in Hampshire too, and they have a meerkat sanctuary there. Although marwell is partly to blame for me finding out santa didnt exist when my nan volunteered to help with the santas grotto (which FYI is amazing!) and i had to sit wrapping santas presents for him!!
    Time to find me again

I love stitchery. I usually use calico fabric about £1.50 mtr then I also usea very light weight batting/wadding. Usually 2 strands of thread are enough for stitchery. If you look back a few pages in this thread I think I have posted a few sites there that I like. One of my favourites is Plum Creek collectibles I have the away in a manger pattern. Enjoy

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong (it has been known :D) but I would have thought pretty much indefinitely so long as the jar is tightly sealed but if they are fragranced that will wear off with time.

    What type are you making?

  • I was going to follow this recipe http://uktv.co.uk/style/item/aid/578441/displayVideo/Hi

    Using this scent

I have tried googling, but different recipes come up with different results, some 12 months + and some 4-6 months

Hi, I've seen a few things recently that have been 'decopatched' and they look positively stunning. Like these...

    http://www.miliati.com/epages/es108996.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/es108996_shop/Categories/%22The%20Decopatch%20Gallery%22/Accessories/Frames

As far as I know, Decopatch involves tearing sheets of special paper into little pieces and gluing onto a papier mache base (could be a frame, box...). The glue turns the paper sort of wet so you can 'mould it' round edges and corners. Once the glue is dry you varnish over the paper and voila you have an original piece of Decopatch.

I'm really keen to try this as I think it would make fab original presents but the prices of products I've seen are rather scary . Does anyone do this or know of anywhere that stocks the glue, varnish and papers at a reasonable price?

    Thanks in advance :D

those frames are lovely, I would look in wilkinsons for the glue and varnish. Any craft shops for different papers, maybe you could use recycled paper, news paper, wrapping paper, parcel paper, magazines etc?
