Wow I have just sat and read through the whole thread, it has given me some ideas but also I have just made up a present for my sons teacher, Made a cup with some sachets of hot chocky, and a tube of rolos, then wrapped it in cellophane, my son wanted it so I may well make up both my children something like that and buy a really nice cup each for them. Also Someone mentioned sweets and put on a link ... so I thought about making up all 3 kids (my son, my daughter and my other half lol) a sweety jar ... my daughters would have to be soft enough for her as she is only 1, my sons can be mixed favourites and my partners can be full of haribo :)

Also thinking of making both of the children the door hangers ;) going to look and see if I can source some of the things I want on them ;)

I would like to make something crafty for family from the 2 children, any ideas? Thought about wooden spoons which could be hung in kitchens or something ... maybe with the words "If mummy says no, ... ask nana!"

I did a version of the retro sweets thing last crimbo for my three...all in their 20s:D ....but put in some dried fruits too--things like lexia raisins; pineapple; mango/papya. Julian Graves do a really tasty toasted coconut that looks a bit like wood shavings, that went down well too.

Perhaps something like that may help fill out the sweeties for tiddlers & also provide a natural diversion from commercial candy stuff:confused:

I was once given an outdoor plaque that said "Sod the dog, beware of the kids!" It made me laugh, perhaps you could do a variation of that on a framed picture? (Make sure they're posing somewhat ferociously!!!

Perhaps somebody would like to try this, i was given a (shop bought) indoor plaque from one of my weans for Mother's Day, it's a decent size with a wooden door knob stuck in the centre. Above the knob, it says, "Laundry room, push once for service" Underneath it says " If no reply, do it yourself". I know it cost a fair whack of money, but it really wouldn't be that hard to do if you were any way crafty?

I am going to buy a couple of large packs of white trainer socks from either Primark or the market, tie dye them different colours and put some ribbon on them for my nieces.

I have another niece due in November, I think I will buy a set of white babygros and customise them using computer t-shirt transfers - although I have yet to find any that wash particularly well. Any recommendations?

My own DD is due in September and for cards this year I was going to send out a mounted photo of her looking Christmassy (one of those cheesy pics to show her first boyfriend one day).

Lady stardust do you mean the baby sleepsuits washing well or the iron on transfers?

Sleepsuits I recommend are next ones, they last for ages and wash really well ... any next sleepsuits etc that I buy when she has outgrown them I re sell them and still get a good amount back!

if you meant the transfers then sorry I cant help.

The 2 girlie ones are for Xmas pressies (I absolutely love the K&Co butterfly paper on these :D ), the golf one is for my dad's birthday next month. He sits most days in his 'study' (my brother's old bedroom!) and tries to complete the crossword in the paper. He has a raft of CD-Roms and books to assist ;) . The little pocket on the back holds a piece of card that reads 'Crossword Genius At Work' on one side and 'Out To Lunch' on the other :rotfl:

I did photo cards last year with my 2 boys in santa hats - took blooming ages to get both of them smiling at the same time :D I bought photo frame cards from Sainsburys - they were on a BOGOF offer last year. You can get photos with frame borders on the actual photo from Snapfish for no more £ than a normal photo (10p for 6x4). I'm sure they will do Xmas designs and you can stick the photos straight onto a card blank. Actually I may do this for some of our cards. Thanks sammy, something else to add to my 'to do for xmas' list :rotfl:
