I had a go at crayon cakes this morning and couldn't believe how quick they are to make. Some of mine were a b*gger to get out of the muffin tin holes . I think next time I may put them in cake cases and peel the cases off. I 'cooked' mine in the oven at 130 degrees for 10 minutes and then left them to go cold. Maybe they would have come out easier if they weren't completely cold?

They are for my nearly 2 yo, don't think he'll mind that some of them have missing bits where I've chipped bits off trying to get them out of the tin ;)

rainmac - a huge thank you, I have been stealing your ideas, well even if they arent your ideas. I have gained inspiration from your photos.

I have made snowman soup which looks yummy, pots of gold, our xmas eve hamper and just about to make two car wash hampers

I'm a bit of a photo poster :o but it helps me knowing that something is completely finished and I can move onto the next task ;)

I've gained so much inspiration from you guys on the SO board. I've had loads of fun looking at and sharing ideas, making stuff and saving money :T :D :j

    Those look great Rainmac!

I would love to do something like this for my 2 year old niece but her mother never seems to do anything creative with her and I've never seen her do any colouring in at all! Rather sad really but I don't want to go to the trouble of making these when I now they will be stuffed in the cupboard with the other toys they have banned her from!!

rainmac - they really do look good - but don;t think I'l be having a go at that just yet...........been in a big enough pickle with other stuff.

Had a go at reindeer heads this afternoon - well, they sort of look ok but not like the pictures of everyone elses....... Mind you I've only got as far as wrapping the flannel round the soap. Think maybe my soap is a bit small........is there a particular size other people use ?
And my pipe cleaners need another soak in some stronger coffee - they've dried out a sort of 'fudge' colour.................lol

Tried our local craft shop for embelishments for baby grandsons 'sleeping' side of of his door hanger - was looking for some teddies of some sort but all they had were peel of 'forever friends' sort..

.............so on to the cake shop - nope, nothing there but did get some red ribbon.
Then on to shop that does all sewing stuff - got some eyes and noses for reindeer heads, elastic thread, some teddy bits for door hanger (so thats all done now)
Girl at photocopy shop sorted my little Christmas Star story into an A5 size booklet
    So.................I'm getting there................I think :rotfl:

Oh and popped into charity shops (how could I not..........lol)and found little reindeer so I'm going to see if I can somehow make it look as though it's holding the tub of reindeer food.
Little snowman that I didn't know what to do with and is about egg cosy size I'm going to use to cover a little paste pot full of white choloate buttons.
    (OH's idea..................ll)

98jdougl - we live over 300 miles from them so she never visits, her mum and dad always expect us to make the effort to see them (can you tell they wind me up :D )

Mary - I use soap that I got from wilkos I can't remember what its called (it does begin with a C I know that much) and its 88p for 4 bars. The size of the bars are 125g. It took me several attempts to get the head right, there is a bit of a knack to it. You have to tuck the ears round at the front while bringing them up, if that makes sense.

Mary, I'm a twit, I have some spare pipecleaners as I've finished my reindeer, let me send them to you with the hessian.

My soap was 14p for 3 bars from Tesco, 125g bars I think.
