There is also a tendency for people to thank posts that give the incorrect information
Oh dear, Miss M, it seems that you are in as fractious a mood as you appeared to be yesterday. Some people thank others because they have simply taken the time to respond, some thank because they agree with some of what is posted, some because it reinforces their own interpretation, and some because they view it as adding to useful discussion, rather than as a marker of its total correctness. Some of us occasionally thank in error because we have "fat finger syndrome" & we hit thanks instead of quote :D Perhaps we should all be able to give a special number marks for specific content?
If you read my post again, you will see I was giving shelters take on harassment as there seem to be some doubt what constituted harassment.
I'd agree with you there - jumping to conlcusions and talking about harassment and calling the police before you know all the facts does suggest that you have some doubt.
Even if posters don't post direct quotes, is there now something wrong with other posters confirming that what the OP has been told is correct?
No more than there is people pointing out to you that the OP had already been given this information. ;)

Some people have more measured approaches than your own: if different ways of doing things are put forward it can be helpful. It's too easy for people get locked in a downward spiral and occasionally a "gentler" more balanced approach can be just as effective at moving a situation forward, and may in the long run prove to be far less stressful.
It might have helped in your reply, if you had quoted my post in the order I said it
Helped you? Wouldn't have helped me: sorry that I don't quote your posts as you'd like them to be quoted, but if people want to see what you put they are of course able to press the little blue arrow after your name and hey presto....

Well that has been an interesting thread to read while having my lunch.

I spat my coffee out when I read this

It would be really good if you could not take my comments out of context.

Pot, Kettle Black sprang to mind.:D

TSB, naughty for thanking Tozer's post that said the only requirement was for the LL to give a name. Its been posted on here millions of times that LLs have to give their addresses if asked.

I had half hoped that you might have reread my posts. It must be nice for you to go through life blaming others.

It certainly wouldn't have helped you to quote me in the order that I had written it, that is very true:D
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

That's was what I was trying to say in perhaps a too subtle way for some. I too noticed he had thanked that post, before I posted on this thread. .

All of a sudden, there seems to be a lot of barristers, solicitors, lawyers, attorneys, quasi-legal helpers running around - business must be tough, not enough continguency insurance policies to sell no doubt.

"continguency insurance policies" what's one of them, when it's at home? We don't have them in immigration law, anyway!
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

    Nor my area I'm afraid!

Not sure I would charge £275 an hour on a no-deal, no-fee arrangement!

Ah PayDay - there's a bit of a spiral here....you chuntering "pot kettle black" at Tozer over selective quoting whilst doing the same yourself. You seem to have missed the second part of Tozer's statement, which was to the effect that an agent's address is valid for the service of notices. Now that is a useful point and if you check the button out, you'll see that it says "the user says thanks for this useful post". You make reference to the "millions" of posts on this board confirming that a LL has to provide an address when requested to do so: my own posts saying exactly that are amongst them.
I had half hoped that you might have reread my posts. It must be nice for you to go through life blaming others.
I said that you appeared "fractious" - that has nothing to do with "blaming others", it's a comment based on your recent posts : yesterday it was Tozer's turn to be on the receiving end of your abruptness, plus Pru & A.N.Other on a different thread, plus no doubt a couple of others somewhere else, and today it's obviously my turn.

I rarely see a post from you in which you acknowledge the validity of anyone else's viewpoints but all of us are of course free to post our thoughts in whatever manner we'd each like to adopt. However, to see your Violet Elizabeth style virtual foot stamping & muttering in corners because a couple of people have had the temerity to disagree with something you posted, and/or commented that you probably over-reacted without knowing all the facts, is both rather funny and rather sad at the same time.

I hope that you have a good weekend, and that something or someone manages to put a smile on your face.:D
