Just been reading peoples experiences on here with OR.

Is it new to have a phone/face to face interview?? Friend went BR in April 06 discharged April 07. She only got forms from her OR to check and sign and send back. She was only on benefits as I am CTC & CB. So I don't think a payment order would be put in place. Anyone advise on this??

I'm in Cheshire do different offices do things differently??

  • No, sometimes, if your lucky, you get away with not having an interview at all.
This can happen if theres a low income/benefit based income and no assetts, but doesn't always. It also helps if you've filled in the forms correctly and given good reasons why your going BR.

The interview isn't generally too bad. The worry of it is worse.

As a family we have a low income, in total. Hence cabs advise to file last year. But we have been trying to clear but getting nowhere. Left with 60.00 in total for creditors

As nearly all debt is in my name, it makes sense for me to file. I only get CTC & CB, from which I pay food shopping. Hubby looks after the rest.

as a couple you will have to complete SOA forms showing your contribution to the house from your income pro rata, you may want to ask the CAB for advice on that.

    Right I have another question....

If bank accounts were joint and are now separate, do I list them as current or not used???

Do I put a note saying now sole account of partner.

As I have children I've been told they can't freeze my bank account. Anyone else heard this??

Hoping to have my appointment with CAB this week, so want to get as much sorted as possible. CAB have been working with me for past 18 months on finances and have been advising me to file BR.

My sole account is with Barclays, but partners wages went it in until we moved all dd's etc.... would I just need to show a wage slip proving it not my money?? or can I just say so.

I cant remember the exact wording on the forms so cant say where best to put them, but make it perfectly clear which accounts you are no longer named on, as the OR cannot freeze them

As I have children I've been told they can't freeze my bank account. Anyone else heard this??

No so doubt its true, however the OR has a duty to your welfare so will have to take this into account

Yes you can just say so, but offer the proof as being available if they want it, they may not bother

The best thing i can advise is that you time your BR so your account is empty and you have no payments going in for a week or so.

The OR is pretty good releasing accounts and funds needed for living costs, but some banks arnt as cooperative so may not follow the OR,s instuction.

This is why we advise opening an account after BR where ever possible, but if its not make sure its empty at the time of your BR, and for a week or so after just in case if you can
Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all …………. :(

If bank accounts were joint and are now separate, do I list them as current or not used??? Just list them under section 5 Q 5.4. Makes no difference even if not used still have to put them.

Do I put a note saying now sole account of partner.I made a little note in the box that it had been joint but was now OH sole acc

As I have children I've been told they can't freeze my bank account. Anyone else heard this?? Utter rubbish, its the bank that freezes the acc not the OR.

Just say so,if the OR asks for proof then send it, but the OR takes a lot of what you say on trust.

    Good luck for nxt wk.D

Not heard back from CAB yet so that means I won't be seen this week now. Have to ring next week and try and get one for then.

I rang the court today and got a nice lady who said BR clark in tues/wed/thurs. Said she would post me forms out.

Did say I had to fill in forms and then BR Clark would book appointment and advise on fees etc........ They are booking September now!!!

So do I ring in the morning and say my CAB advisor is helping me and can I book a date?? Surely if I do forms now they won't be accurate if wait is until September????

It's Crewe Court if that helps.....

  • September  i've heard of three weeks wait but never three months.

I'd phone and chat to the BR clerk. The person you spoke to may have got it wrong, or they maybe able to offer you a cancellation appointment.

If you can't wait for the CAB then post all your questions about your forms on here and you'll get loads of help. They really aren't that difficult to fill in, they just look daunting.

September is a hell of a time away...As BLTN says, does no harm to ring and double check.

If you are unsure on any question or point no matter how trivial you think it is please post it and we'll all help as much as poss.

Also, why not try ringing the CAB again, Does no harm to keep chasing etc. Shows you are genuienly in need of assistance.

    Dave.
