OS daily thread Wednesday 11th June

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 11th June. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning everyone :hello:
Looking like it's going to be nice day here, I was going to say gogeous but there's a weev skiff of cloud. So far just me and the dog are up, everyone else is still linthe land of nod. I like this time of the morning, it's about the only way I get 10 minutes to myself
I've just noticed in my sig that I still haven't gotten round to updating my GC total yet, ooops! I'm honestly not doing very well at all the challenges etc this mont as the weather has been so good, I've not wanted to be inside at all. Still I hope I have lots of lovely veggies to show for it all when I'm done.
No idea what's for tea tonight, DH used the fish fingers and waffles last night, I had decided in my mind that those would do for quick teas on 2 different nights, ah well, I suppose it is my fault as I said I couln't be bothered to cook last night. That's a whole other story, DD2's in a can't be bothered mood to do anything, this is including school work and homework, so I'm showing her what happens when we all say we can't be bothered to do something. So far I fear it might not work? Anyone got any ideas, please let me know as we're at a loss as to what to do with her
Sorry to ramble, Imust now get my skates on as I have a meeting at work at 0630 and it takes me 20 minutes to drive there.
Love and hugs to everyone who needs them
see you later

Hi Arkonite - by the time I've finished typing this you'll have posted, I expect!
We have a beautiful start to the day which has stopped me feeling grumpy about having another bad night's sleep! Although my cold has gone and I don't feel at all ill, I have a stuffy nose that interferes with my breathing. This is the second night like that so I shall have to resort to some Olbas Oil tonight, I think. Anyway, I don't feel too tired at the moment but probably will later on!
(((Hugs))) to Smoky and the LOs, PenPin, Mrs Mix, Candygirl and her Dad, Jayward, Beth, Annie and all those who are ill or anxious. Donny-Gal - good luck with the tests today.
I phoned my DS1 last night and he has been unwell since the weekend - he's never ever ill so, of course, I am worried. He has completely lost his appetite and feels very tired all the time. I tried to insist he goes to the doctor but you know what men are like! Anyway, when I reminded him that he is a dad now and has responsibilities to his children, he came to his senses and has promised he will go if he's not better by Friday. He is usually so well - as a civil engineer, he is mainly office-bound, but plays all sorts of sport, runs 15 miles a week and loves gardening. It was their wedding anniversary last week and DIL whisked him away to a hotel on Saturday night; he spent most of the time in bed - for all the wrong reasons! Anyway, I have told him I will be nagging him every day to make sure he is either getting better or has seen the GP. You never stop worrying about them, do you?
I had to laugh at DH yesterday - he came home from work covered in dust because he has been sanding down a ceiling in the bathroom he is making for a customer. By the time I had made his cup of tea he had taken all his clothes off because they were covered in dust - when I took him his cuppa he was sat in one of the garden chairs all 6'4" of him completely starkers! Fortunately, that part of the garden is quite private! I really should have taken a photo and posted it on here - but I couldn't put you all through that!
I will be collecting DGS from school this afternoon so I shall try and have a snooze before then.
Anyway, I have 'mioliered' again! Will go off and have a shower and catch up with you all later.

Morning All
Arkonitebabe - dont know what to say about DD, our DD knows that if she doesnt do stuff her laptop gets taken away - she hates that. We still have the screaming ad-dabs from her though - good luck
Mioliere - think that photo might have been a tad too much this early in the morning for me :rotfl:
Hope everyone is ok, didnt catch up with the thread yesterday (((hugs))) if needed.
Doc gave DS some new hayfever medicine yesterday, havnt heard from him all night so hopefully its worked a little better and he is going to school today. Need to take him back to the docs next week, it seems he has very severe hayfever.
If DS does go to school this morning I am off to Tai Chi, I will then pop into the town and get some fathers day stuff. Also think I will pick up a couple of things from Iceland whilst there.
Have normal washing ironing paperwork and housework to do, also must sit down with DD later and sort out her birthday party.
Have a great day.

Morning all, had a restless sleep so got up at 5, just pottering about in the garden, didn't do weeding yesterday as it was to hot. I painted 14 picture frames on the patio. I did a makeover in the twin room a couple of weeks ago and as the frames didn't go with the colour sheme I deceided to paint them, saves having to buy new ones, got some lovely books on frecycle and found some beautiful pics which I cut out and framed. Money saved.
Ordered material to make curtains, should arrive on Friday so hope to have them made over the week-end.
We are taking DF to court later as he has gone bankrupt, and has to present his papers, we had explored every avenue thanks to MSE, but he is so in debt this is the only answer.
Got some gammon out of the freezer to go with salad and new pots for dinner, fresh fruit for pud. Still not shopping except for fruit and veg.
A couple wanted to view the house to let last night, waited 45 mns. but they didn't turn up or bother to cancell. How rude.
Anniestar, hope you have good news about Phoebie.
Huge Hugs to Smokey, Candygirl and DDad, JackieO, Mrs Mix Jayward and anyone that has slipped my mind. xx0 -
Morning all,
I'll have to tell DH it's the 28th April again going by ab's post. It's his birthday.
Talking of birthday's I received a card today from Aunty J in Scotland.
She's 5 months too late
but I won't tell if you don't. Vacumed and washed floors this morning. Cleaned out shower etc. Made Benny his dog food & some lemon cheese. Curd to some.
After lunch I washed Benny & then went to the library. Just got back & having a cuppa. It's been sunny today. The yard is still squelchy. I hope it dries out for the weekend so DH can mow it.
Moiliere Let us know how DS gets on at the dr's. I'm sure we would have coped seeing your DH starkers. We survived Tired Mum's DH.

MrsMix
Essex-Girl How do you find Tai Chi? I've always wanted to try it. They do yoga on the other island. I don't think I"m that supple for that anymore.
Smoky Hope you are doing alright atm. Always thinking of you.
Will pop back later. Hope you all have a lovely day. <hugs> to the sickies.
Byeeeeeeeeee Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

Morning all,
another beautiful day here, they said it is going to be a bit cooler though. Off to w**k today, but will be doing no work as my boss is taking us out to lunch and then to see s*x in the city, its a team thank you for all the hard work we have done in the last year, which will be nice :T . I have made a curry for tonght which is is the fridge, will just heat it through when I get in.
Kathy your story made me laugh :rotfl: very often my OH comes home covered from head to foot in black dust, and i make him strip off in the garden, although he must be a bit shy cos he insists on keeping his pants on, I have actually hosed him down in the garden before, I think that was when he was taking a ceiling down. Covered in black dust and sweaty not nice
Hope your DS feels better soon xx
Essex girl hope the meds help your DS x
Hugs to all in need, smoky, pen pin, candy, granny, jayward, and all those in need. x
Annie hope phoebe is ok xx0 -
Morning all,
another beautiful day here too
Off to Kent later to visit my mate, update her on dates/kids/life in general, and drink coffee & eat cake!!
AB, I have the same with my DD's (have often ranted on here about them!) - I think not being available to give lifts/do stuff, etc does gradually sink in...
Mioliere, I think the problem is, once you become a parent yourself you then put your own kids first & don't look after yourself.... and it needs your parents to nag you! lol.... Bit like me ignoring pneumonia all last summer until I ended up in hospital with my mum saying "I told you so..."
:rotfl: So good for you nagging your DS
And I think the photo could have been, er, entertaining....?!?!
EssexGirl, thanks for the reminder about Father's Day, I must get my DD's to sort something for their father. I tend not to have that day in mind now my Dad is not around any more & I am always cross with exDH!
Betheebee, how are you doing? Is your arm starting to feel better (even though you haven't been able to give it a chance to recover!)
((((smokey, candygirl, betheebee, anniestar)))))) and I know there are others too - so hugs for all of you. PenPin, how are you doing now??
Have a good day all.
Edit: Aussie - you are so observant!!!!!Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)

Good morning everyone! I have a very busy Old Style day today, so probably won't be around much

Another beautiful day, so I'm planning a morning in the garden, before the weather breaks. We have loads of peas, rhubarb, carrots, lettuce, spinach, potatoes cropping, and tomatoes, radish, strawberries and chilli well on the way. Courgettes, sprouts, beans, raspberry, pumpkin plants are growing but no fruit as yet.
I made yogurt overnight, so pear and banana smoothies with HM blueberry pancakes for breakfast. I've made mini veg quiches for pack-ups and yesterday's spinach and chick pea curry for tea. Yesterday was so nice that we barbequed on our new chiminea - beefburgers and trout    with lettuce, minty potatoes and mange tout from the garden.
If it does start raining, I'm planning to bake - chocolate cake, fork biscuits, bread rolls for pack-ups, fruit cake. While the oven's on, I have some soaked beans that need cooking, so I'll pop them into the lower oven on the range.
I've also got my knitting needles out, and have chosen a dishcloth pattern :T
The washing is on the line, so that'll need ironing, too
:hello:  to all the hussies; :grouphug: for everyone.
Have a fab day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Hello all

Have had a nice day today, took myself out for brekkie! Not very OS, but sometimes you just need to treat yourself... Don't you? Please say yes! I went to a little cafe just near the market and had pancakes and a cup of tea and sat and read my book in the autumn sunshine. Thoroughly enjoyed myself. Had been woken up this morning (my day off) by OH rattling around in the kitchen and watching Spongebob so hadn't been in a very good mood.
Since then have had the DW and WM on, hung out the washing, done the pots and pans, been to the gym, been to the supermarket, been to the bank, made my lunch for tomorrow, tidied up the disaster zone that is my side of the bed and put the cover back on the sofa :A. Just about to start chopping up veggies for HM pizza tonight and still have some lesson planning to do for work which should have been done last week. Oops.
House purchase is all going through ok and have been out buying furniture in the end of year sales (financial year here ends at the end of the month). Lots of fun!
Anyway, seem to have rabbited on a bit so I'll toddle off now and do something useful. Hope everyone is ok; hugs/commiserations/congratulations as appropriate

Morning all
I felt quite enegetic till I read Pen Pen's post, now I'm exhausted at the thought of all that work, all I've done is water the garden.
I had another long chat with BIL last night, he seems to see me as a surrogate Mum. I was very flattered when he told me he found me amazing, making meals up from leftovers & making cushion covers & bags from fabric scraps.
We had the NVQ people at work yesterday & it looks like that is all going ahead, I still don't have much idea about what it entails & the NVQ people weren't a lot of help, they's never dealt with anyone in my job before. Still it's work based, so hopefuly I'll manage it & it's something to put on my CV.
I'm still making Silly Baggers bags & have 6 nearly finished, I will get quicker with practice & the next lot of fabric is needlecord & easier to work with than the faux suede I'm using at the moment.
Hugs to PP, Smokey, Candy, Annie & everyone else in need.
Have a good day everyone
Hugs Hester
