They only accept coupons for stuff you've bought in Burnage and Droylsden in Manchester too - have done for ages.
In fact sometimes they don't accept them if you HAVE bought the item. I had a £5 voucher off some cakes. The cakes were £4.75 but the cashier said I had to go an get more cakes to bring it over the £5 voucher amount. I told her to just take the £4.75 off then. Manager called, she confirmed what cashier said and said they couldn't just take £4.75 off they had to take the full amount and could only do that if I bought more cakes (At £4.75 a time  )
I handed the cakes back and took my voucher home to use at Asda (who also don't accept coupons unless you've bought the item

I reckon it must be close on 2 years since Tesco in Watford stopped taking coupons unless you bought the product.

Seems rather strange to say that they are going to do this "by Christmas". You'd think if they wanted to change their policy that they would go ahead and do it - not say they are going to in 6 months time! Lets hope they forget about it by then:D

wasn't there supposed to be a change of acceptance policy in May. The only thing for sure is nothing is for sure. What is accepted this week may not be next week. My local usually takes a certain percentage which in conjuction with instore bogoff and current offers makes it cheaper than any other store. I would hate to pay full price for my shopping so i hope it continues. I guess the less it is abused and boasted about the better. If done correctly Mr T won't lose out and will retain thousands of extra shoppers.

Margy, can I ask - WHY did they tell you this? Did you specifically ask? Or were you putting a shedload of coupons thru at the time? :);)
