I am going into today with the mentality that it is a new day, that it cannot be as bad as yesterday. Lets just all keep our fingers crossed that this other house manages to go through by friday.

So the original letting agent called me back at 3.30pm this afternoon and told me that the gas is now connected to the house, but that she still cannot tell me for certain when the house would be ready and it was at that point that I told her that it was ok, and that I had somewhere else lined up and I wanted my initial deposit back. She got really defensive then and said I couldn't have the deposit back.

So I made a phone call to my landlord where I am currently living (until friday) and she said it would be standard practice for the lettting agent to refund in this case, as they have delayed the move three times now and have reneged on their side of the deal. She also phoned a friend in another branch of the letting agency who let me down and the friends said in her branch I would of been refunded.

So I phoned their head office and told them I wanted my money back, they phoned the local office, and at 5.30pm I got a call saying the manager was taking my file home tonight and would decide whether I would get the money back or not. If she says I cannot have it back I am threatening with the newspapers and small claims court. I am not prepared to lose nearly £200 because this company has messed up.

Still no news on the other agents, apart from the company who do the credit checks for them rang me to ask for my date of birth which I missed off the form (doh!). They said they should be able to get that completed by tomorrow/thursday latest. So now its a waiting game.

I spoke to my health visitor today and she said that if worst comes to worst she can get me into the local homeless unit on friday (which I am desperately hoping to avoid) and then the council will have to rehome me, as I didn't make myself purposely homeless, as I put in my notice here in good faith.

All in all a tiring day all round, oooh and I shampooed the living room carpet too.

Just a quick update, I may not be online for a bit, I got beaten up in a bus station in Newcastle last night, an 18 year old girl kicked me in the face several times, leaving me with a black eye and burst lip. Will catch you all soon.

Hi all, just a quick update to let you know what is happening. I am healing up nicely, ended up with two broken fingers, bust lip, black eye, a massive handful of hair pulled out, fingernail ripped out and various cuts and bruises. I also ended up being arrested the wednesday after because a security guard had heard me swear at the girl as she was kicking me. I basically told her to eff off, and so I was given an £80 fine for "causing alarm or offence to the members of the public in the bus station through my language used" apparantly. It was a section 5 something or other. I would have thought that seeing someone get beaten up in front of their 8 year old daughter in an unprovoked attack would have cause more offence than me swearing but its a funny old system the police have.

The lass they arrested got in more trouble for trashing the cell they put her in and spitting at a policeman than what she did for kicking me repeatedly in the face. I also got to watch the attack again on cctv, which was not nice.

Apart from that though, things are going fine. I have moved house, am settling in lovely and am managing my finances well. Life is back to my nice level playing field. Hope you are all ok.
