If you have a through ticket EG Glasgow to York via Edinburgh booked on specific trains and you miss connection at Edinburgh due to late running service from Glasgow.Can you just take next train to York?
Thanks Iain
Yes - but it's best to get your ticket endorsed first. You MAY be restricted to trains run by the same company - ie only East Coast or only Cross Country0 -
Anytime day return Yeovil to Basingstoke £23.30
Anytime day return Basingstoke Waterloo £31.60
So £54.90 each
Thanks - that saves us a lot of money
I had forgotten how stupid these rail companies are - not giving the best fare possible.....
I am entitled to (but don't hold) a disabled persons railcard - so could save another 33% - if I get a card (cost £18)0 -

It's coming up at over £100ppI did same journey last year for £30pp return! I looked at dead on the 12 week mark to get advance tickets and it was still the same price.
Cheers

The dead on 12 weeks is a myth.
The advance tickets ARE there - unfortunately not as cheap as you want. Later in the day - maybe.
Some suggestions - try Hayes and Harlington then bus (£2 each) or Heathrow Connect (?£5ish). A superoffpeak return to H&H is £65.70 - but you have to leave at stupid oclock (0358) to get it and arrive in time. Look also at advance singles to H&H - a bit more expensive but still under the £100 mark0 -

Is the railcard valid on peak trains? (Don't know - but check before you rush out and get one.)0 -

Apparently it is - at least it gives me a 33% discount when I put the journey requirements in to the Trainline.com
So from an original £173 - I am now down to a much more reasonable £73.13 - but need to spend £18 extra to get the best fares
Thanks for your advice0 -
Hi folks!

You could try, a train and a coach combo;
Ely to Z12* London £46.20 (search Ely to London Victoria to get this fare)
Victoria Coach Station to Taunton Economy Return £49.60
Total Return £95.80
Just make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get across London to catch your coach, the Z12* London ticket allows travel on Tfl
It will be an epic journey, but its the best I could do

I have just heard that a friend has died and I need to travel from Harrogate to Glasgow on the 30th September returning on the 2nd October.
Best option for train fares. Flexible with times etc.

You can get some advance singles for £43 but the return is at a slightly anti-social time;
Harrogate to Glasgow Cen 30th Sep 08.06 arr 13.01 advance single £28.50
Glasgow Cen to Harrogate 2nd Oct 18.00 arr 23.58 advance single £14.50
There are other times for the return, but cost more.
Info from East Coast Website
*other options are to split at Manchester Pic (about £50 but better times) or to go 'via Edinburgh' (about £50, better times but longer journey)Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0
