May I also add ... an 'off peak' appears to be cheaper than an Advanced at the moment ... surely that is not right?
Assume August, not April??
Fares on that route look distinctly odd at the moment, not only on your date but on most.
Whether it's a mistake or a policy of some sort I've no idea.
The cynic would say they are thinking well we have to offer a certain proportion of advance fares but don't really want to. We'll make them so expensive that no one will buy them except the unobservant
OTH it may just be a programmer screwing up.
You can buy through Eurostar tickets from Lancaster - have you investigated that? Has the advantage of being a through ticket giving you extra rights if a train is delayed0 -

Perhaps their doing the same as Arriva Crosscountry and reducing the amount of cheap lower tier advance singles, as their profit margins are down due to the economic downturn?Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -

Well maybe - but at least on Arriva the upper tier advance tickets are usually less than standard singles. There's no point in them if they are not.0 -
Can anyone help please?
I need to travel from Wellingborough, Northants to London EC2. So far I think i can get a train to London St Pancras at £13 each way, then I am stuck as to what I would need to get to EC2 from there. I need to be there at 12pm and I can travel back after 1.30pm.
If anyone can give any advice that would be great. I have looked on google and it says its just under 2 miles but it would take me about 40 mins to walk. If I have the time I could walk there but I need to back in wellingborough at 3.20 (I know cutting it very fine!!!)MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987
EMFD was Feb 32  NOW Dec 2013 its Dec 2016
MF new target Dec 16 REACHED!! :j0 -
Well depends where in EC2 but the tube might take 10 minutes each way. A one day zones 1-2 travelcard (£5.60) will cover the journey each way plus any bus you might need to use0

Hi all you experts - I'm looking for the cheapest tickets between Huddersfield (or Honley) and Swindon, going on Fri Sept 3rd after 16.00 (or 15.20 from Honley) and arriving back by about 23.00 on Sunday Sept 5th
I don't mind what route, the cheapest I've been able to find is £64 for a return via Cheltenham, can't seem to get it any less by split ticketing.
In the past I've been via Manchester & Oxford, Leeds/Wakefield & Cheltenham/Gloucester or London, and Birmingham & Bristol, so am open to any suggestions.
Thanks in advance for any help.0 -

Anytime Return from Honley or Huddersfield to Sheffield (via not Leeds) = £10.40.
Advance Singles Sheffield to Swindon = £25.50 each way.
Total = £61.40.0 -
I've just bought some tickets from CrossCountryTrains and my Booking Confirmation page stated:
"You saved £17.80 with thetrainline compared to buying your ticket at the station on the day of departure."
Are all these 'cost-cutting' sites basically just different front ends to the same database, then? The prices I paid for each of three journeys were exactly the same as thetrainline had quoted. Coincidence, or to be expected? The only difference was that CrossCountryTrains charged a postage fee of £1 but no booking fee, whereas thetrainline would have charged £1 booking fee per journey but no postage fee.0
