I am trying but failing to find a cheap ticket to London, the prices I am finding are soooooo expensive
Has anyone any suggestions or know cheap prices
Manchester to London
Dates either 27th or 28th May 2010
Ideally return
Travelling 9.35am train and coming back after 4pm
An Anytime Day Return Manchester to Crewe at £9.10.
Then Advance Singles each way from Crewe to London via London Midland Trains for £8 - £15 each way.
Journey time will be longer, but a significant saving.
Pity you can't go 29 May or later.
London Midland's Great Escape would reduce your trip to £19.10 return.0 -
Virgin do not charge a fee and, if it's a journey only on Virgin trains you can get an eTicket - saving you having to go to the ticket machine at the station.
Also fares on the Cambrian Coast line to almost anywhere else are very cheap - off peak return Aberystwyth to London is £60 or so - you change at Wolverhampton (which costs £95 to return when you want to!) So short tickets ought to work on this.
Finally Railcards allow you to travel out of London at peak times at no extra charge on Virgin trains0 -
Forgive me if this has been covered previously but I want to travel from Heathrow Terminal 5 to Liverpool and the fare seems to be much cheaper from ZHJ (any Heathrow tube station) than it is from Terminal 5 (HWV). What's the catch? Can I book from ZHJ and catch the tube at Terminal 5? Thanks in advance.0

I think you'll find the cheaper journey will be tube from Heathrow to Euston then National Rail -- cheapest by London Midland Trains -- to Liverpool.0 -
The expensive part will be from Heathrow to Paddington by National Rail.

I want to go Virgin trains from Euston but the complete journey is more expensive if i specify T5 as the point of departure as opposed to Heathrow any station. Any ideas?0 -

The fare from T5 (unqualified) will use the expensive Heathrow Express and then tube Paddington to Eustion
The fare from Heathrow any tube station will be by tube all the way. It will be the same from T5 tube station as any of the others - ie cheaper.0 -

And as I said earlier, The expensive bit is from Heathrow to Paddington on National Rail.
Going from 'any Heathrow tube station' will route you via the tube to Euston.
Pretty much what I said earlier. Sorry cannot write it any different.
I really don't care how you get from Euston to Liverpool, was just offering a suggestion.0 -

A very useful response , many thanks. Negated the need for the one that followed it but some people do like the sound of their own voice perhaps.0 -
Hello,
I'm needing to travel from Lancaster to London on Wed 18th April in order to get a Eurostar train at roughly 2pm.
Now I've travelled down many a time from Lancaster at a similar time of day, never paying more than around £17 single each way.
The cheapest I can find at the moment is £70 each way ... a small number of advance fares were released yesterday but the only train that day which is cheap is 13.59 which is far too late for my connection I'll need to make.
Why has only one advance fare been released and will the others come on shortly?0 -
May I also add ... an 'off peak' appears to be cheaper than an Advanced at the moment ... surely that is not right?0
