Ahh well this threads makes me ask a question I've been wondering for a while. Do porridge oats all taste the same or do different brands taste different (eg some are nicer than others)?

The first time I went out to buy it, I overheard a lady looking for Quaker oats as she liked them best, so that's what I bought and have stuck to every since and I'm wary of buying another brand in case they don't taste the same.

    Help please.

Flahavans is my favourite brand, seems to have more taste than the own brands imho. Bought the last lot in Sainsburys
  • I bought these today to try them:

    Sainsbury's Express Porridge Apple & Cinnamon x 10 Sachets (360g)

    Sainsbury's Express Porridge Blueberry & Raspberry x 10 (360g)

    Anyone else tried them?

That's a joke right? The trouble with posts on these boards is its quite hard to tell if someone is joking or truly believes the cods wallop they have just sprouted
I wonder if he's joking too.

I add a tablespoon of natural yogurt to mine when cooked. Makes the porridge lovely and creamy!

Incidentally, the rotation of molecules is why cheap vitamin tablets can be half as effective as expensive ones. More expensive brands isolate and add in the molecules with left symmetry that our bodies have the receptors for and can use. I doubt microwaves have any effect on the water in porridge however.

Oh, and I make mine on the hob :)

I had heard about these cheap multivitamins not being as good...but true money savers will be fully aware that if you twist sharply to the left when swallowing them you can realign the molecules and give them a truly left leaning bias, this is irreversible though the digestive process which ordinarily would create random bond formation with half of all bonds leaning to the right, and as all good money savers know we can't have any right leaning tendencies.

On the point of water (or milk for that matter) several research studies discussed by real life doctors have found that if you stir the liquid in a counter clockwise direction this counteracts the microwaves abnormal leaning tendacny, if stirred enough this can, in some circumstances be called a super food and has multiple health benefits including hydration and increasing bone strength, truly amazing stuff

Like I said, the microwave thing is nonsense...the symmetry thing, whilst it sounds like total bull is in fact a thing:

The most boring chemistry lecture I ever had to endure, but I still check my vitamin labels for L's in front of the long names, so it did me some good.

  • I was at this posh hotel Last week and ordered porridge for breakfast, it arrived with a knob of butter slowly melting on top
every else in the dinning room eating porridge had the same, I thought it must be extra posh way of eating it....... It was horrid..... no offence to anyone who does eat it like that.
I like mine simply made on the hob with water, then a swirl of cold milk and a spoon of sugar yum yum
