    Soak the oats with milk the overnight. In the morning, add condensed milk whilst heating it up. When done, add a knot of salted butter, some canned peach and sprinkle with tiny bit of cinnamon. Sounds wired but is one of my favourite.

    Cor I can't remember the last time I did porridge.
    As a kid I liked made with half water/milk and with a little evaporated milk round the the outside (on top) and with just a sprinkle of sugar over the middle.
    (oh and it must be thick and lumpy)

    I often add fruit but there are so many offers on flavoured sachets of porridge in supermarkets, you can buy quite a variety, it can be made very quickly in the microwave and always better with milk rather than water before Mum passed away she would not have eaten porridge(probably remembering how it was when she was a child)but in the last few months she tried it and quite liked it.

    I use two thirds of a cup of porridge oats, one half cups water, half cup of milk, raisins or any other dried fruit that takes my fancy.., put it all in a jug and microwave for 3 mins or til the oats mixture is nice and thick.., then I add a little bit of maple syrup. My kids love it, its healthy (add as little maple syrup as I can as the raisins/fruit add some sweetness), its low in fat, good for hearts and it tastes wonderful. Not often u can eat healthy and enjoy it as much as this lol.

    I make my porridge with soya milk in the microwave then stir in a teaspoon of malt extract, a little honey for sweetness and chop five or six dates into it :D
    I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

    Sad a lot of people don't make porridge in a saucepan.

    I heard an interesting talk from a doctor recently and within it she mentioned the argument against microwaving being a very simple one really. That is, when you put food in a microwave, half of the water molecules in the food are, instead of being left rotated, the microwave makes half of them right rotated and that if you put food in your body that's right rotated, it doesn't know what to do with it.
    If no life on our planet has right rotated molecules within it and they are not natural to our planet it's a smart move not to use a microwave she concluded.

    I do not know what he was drinking, but he needs more water with it.
    I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
  • My lads grumble a bit at porridge, so I tried tomake it more exciting with coconut & mango. They were still unimpressed.

    I'm now addicted to very fine dessicated coconut in my porridge.

    Mango is *great* when available, but if not, no worries.

    That's a joke right? The trouble with posts on these boards is its quite hard to tell if someone is joking or truly believes the cods wallop they have just sprouted
