Could try orange juice in it haven't tried it before but heard about it called sunshine porridge forgot what other ingredients are.
  • The best and definately naughtiest addition to porridge is a big handful of chocolate raisins - but be warned, nothing else will ever do afterwards. Nope, dont listen just do it and ENJOY!!!!

    Gotta try it! :D

I usually have it plain, or a half-dose with mixed with a single Weetabix. For a treat it's flaked almonds, chopped hazelnuts, banana or dried apple pieces for me.

  • I don't think I've ever added anything to porridge! Sounds like some lovely ideas though, may well give them a try. Never too old to try new things. I tried marmite the other week and found that I do like it after all after years of turning my nose up.

Won't be trying that on porridge though. That would be a step too far. :rotfl:

Made with almond milk with a handful of raisins and a sprinkle of flaked almonds :)
Almond milk has half the cals of semi skimmed and is virtually fat free. Tastes really indulgent though. Yum!

Finely-chopped apple and Demerara sugar (or cinnamon if you can't have sugar). Trust me... :D

Not a good idea with the amount of carbs in the bowl!

Not exactly the best idea... but I had some vanilla and some banana slimfast powder left when I got far to sick of it !

I make my porridge up with water, and add a scoop of slimfast powder to flavour it! It has powdered milk in so it makes it really creamy!

I'm loving the sound of the chopped apple and cinnamon porridge, and will have a go at stirring some chocolate through it and topping with sliced banana.

    Mmm, hungry now

    • Toffee apple/banana or apricot - melt some sugar and butter in a pan - do not stir or it will go grainy then add some chopped apples, bananas or dried apricots and make sure all the fruit has a good covering , leave overnight to set, then sprinkle on the porridge the next day, or make a simple honeycomb and crush that into the porridge.
    • Sultanas soaked overnight in orange or apple juice
    • A sprinkle of nutmeg and cream
    • maple syrup and pecans
    • A small tin of mandarins or ½ a tin of peaches or frozen berries that have been defrosted overnight and sweetened with a little honey.
