  • you can crack an egg and stir it in for the last few secs. this makes it v. nutritious for kids and those in need of more protein in their diets..
    btw, i make mine with semi-skimmed milk and add maple syrup after..yom!
  • Eating porridge in hot summer weather? No problem! (We don't get much hot summer weather here)
    I don't measure...... Lots Scotts or Tesco's oats - Water - Plenty of Salt. Cook in microwave the evening before. Put into fridge overnight. Next morning it should be solid enough to slice with a knife. Smother in single cream,

  • i make my porridge in a pan with skimmed milk, and a half teaspoon of sugar. it certainly warms you up these cold mornings

    1 mug porridge oats, 3 mugs water, salt. Boil and simmer 7 minutes. Add milk or single cream in the plate. :) When its cooked, fill the pot with cold water and set aside, at teatime when you need the pot the porridge skin will fall off easily.
    Jackie O are you sure you use 1and a half mugs of water? that would hold bricks in place!

    We have porridge most mornings and I normally do it with golden syrup or honey, but the children are getting bored of it.

    I add different things to it, like dried cranberries, fresh diced apple, kiwi fruit etc. OH has raisins & sultanas.

    Banana. Raisins. Coconut. Whisky. Cinnamon. Cream. Demerara sugar. Milk. Strawberries/raspberries/blueberries/blackberries.
