From what I have heard about twins insurance, they are reluctant to pay out where there is a history of twins in the family.

I'd second the advice about going down the bookies!

Why would they be reluctant to pay out if someone discloses any information about twins inthe family when taking out the policy?

Anyone know how I get a quote from Ladbrokes or Williamhill about twins - do I have to go into a bookies and ask (feel a bit daft) LOL

    Cheers

Insurance against having twins? Are you wanting to know if insurance companies will insure you and pay out if you have twins? Is so, then no - thats pretty ludicrous to be honest! (no offence intended!)

Jo you can take out twin insurance I know someone that has had a payout from it and I'm looking into taking it out myself. You should research before answering a question you only "think" you know the answer to!!!!

Yes you can get twin insurance however if you do end up with twins or more you have to prove that it was not the result of fertility treatment, have not taken any clomid that was not prescribed to you and any other medication that can cause multiple follicle growth.

Are having twins something that actually runs in the family? I thought it was a random event.

It's possible there is a tendancy to release 2 eggs in each cycle which can be passed on from mother to daughter. This would result in a family history on the maternal side of producing fraternal (non-identical) twins.

IN answer to who does it, ear;ier in this thread it mentions the insurance is with zurich.
What I dont understand about this insurance is, what if you had a private scan, your gp would nt have to know, and you could make a claim, having taken out a policy knowing that you are having twins?
Anyhoo re the bookies, you can ask them to set up a bet, I suspect again you would need proof you hadnt had a scan.

I didn't have twins after all, thanks for asking :)
