something like this always makes me chuckle, if i had something like this sent to me my first reaction would be to ring the bank and not debate it on a forum...that said however natwest do deliver their new cards by courier however I have never had a letter by courier.0

Of course you would but if you are a troll...............................well thats a different matter.0 -
In my experience Natwest recovery letters are sent out via normal post and they request that you go into a branch with your card and chequebook to be destroyed. They will also give you the balance of the account there and then.
This sounds extremely dodgy-do not under any circumstances respond to this letter-take it into the branch with you so it can be forwarded to the Fraud department.
I'd be extremely shocked if this were genuine. When you get to the end of your tether, tie a knot and hang on.0 -
Guessing there is no update?0

Sorry I'd forgotten all about this until now. I had no idea it would provoke quite a little discussion here as I only saw the first few responses. I know there's nothing worse than having someone tell a joke then having to wait over 5 weeks for the punchline! Many apologies for this.
A visit to my branch revealed that the letter was genuine. I was always going to contact the bank ASAP, I just felt like asking if this was something that NatWest do regularly, hope you don't mind donny osmonds mad fanThere was nothing more sinister behind this either for those with suspicious minds
If I did type please not instead of please note, that's all it was - a typo. I just copied the letter onto the forum quickly. I make a lot of money from gambling, mostly through Betfair. More and more people do this these days although I appreciate that it's still not a mainstream occupation. I had to look up what a troll was too (I'm not an internet forum regular). Not guilty to that one too.
The address they were asking me to send the cards and cheque book to for those who wanted to know is: NatWest, Account Closure Department, PO Box 1000, Edinburgh, EH12 1HQ.
The strange thing is that 45 days after they sent the letter telling they were closing my account in 30 days, the account is still working fine and I can log into the online banking with no problems. I went into my branch for a second time to ask what was going on and they didn't have a clue as apparently once their account closure department get hold of anything, the regular bank staff are helpless. All in all, not great service from NatWest. I've withdrawn all the money now anyway, but at least if you say you're going to close the account in 30 days, you should actually do it0 -
Just reading through the responses again there and thought I'd mention that I've seen my credit report over the past few weeks and it is spotless so that's not the reason that NatWest have done this.
Also, I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to respond to this. I genuinely did forget all about this until today, so I hope I have put all your minds at rest now :rotfl:0 -
Thanks for the update, red0209.You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0

I assume being a professional gambler means ur a professional arber? I know you can prob quite easily make ~£10 - £12k a year if you do all the arbs as well as actual bookies arbs but then most people will prob. be too busy with thier jobs and of course, you do need a massive capital for this. I made a good £5k when I had £11k before I bought my car and spent a lot of cash on fuel, tax and insurance lol. Now I'd say I can realistically make about £200 a month but of course I don't do any bookies arbs anymore. Just out of interst, how much do u make as a 'profesional gambler'? I assume you aren't a professional poker player?0

Only just noticed that last response there.
No I am not an arber, although I do place the odd arb when I know the bookmaker involved isn't going to penalise me by dramatically restricting my stakes because of it. I am one of Betfair's biggest customers, primarily as a layer when it comes to football, baseball and tennis. I probably make around half a million a year, although this isn't a set in stone figure of course. My betting turnover is rising year upon year.0
