Perhaps they think the OP is into money laundering or is a drug dealer. Also it could be something on your credit report and provided the letter from the NATWEST is genuine I would definately have sight of your credit report.
Also if the OP phoned Royal Mail postcodes and give them the PO Box no. and postcode for the box they will be able to confirm the company name behind the box.0 -
Sounds VERY dodgy if you ask me. These two sections in particular ring alarm bells for me:
"Should you possess a debit card or chequebook, please return them using the enclosed pre-paid envelope to the above address"
They will already know what you posess - 'Should' just does not sit right. And I doubt the bank would ask you to return them anyway.
"We assure you that we have only reached this decision after careful consideration, however our decision is final and we are not prepared to enter into any discussion in relation to it."
Again, the tone just does not sit right - banks and companies in general rarely say 'we are not prepared to enter into any discussion in relation to it'
Sounds like a very nicely worded scam to me - take it into a local branch!0 -
Go into the branch or at the very least call the natwest customer services. This does sound dodgy. Hope you get it sorted.Got Halifax Classic to reduce my interest rate by 5% woohoo - 10/06/08 Thanks MSE!
Another 3% shaved off 10/12/08
ANOTHER 4 % June 09:beer:0 -
Out of curiosity I would like to know the outcome.0

This has got 'SCAM' written all over it!!!
They are trying to prevent you calling Natwest by saying it is non-negotiable - one phonecall and you'd know it is a scam! If it were from Natwest, I am sure they would offer you the opportunity to discuss it with someone.
I'd have thought they'd ask you to destroy any cards rather than return them too.
Did it address you by name?0 -
What is the address of the envelope that they are asking you to send the card to?0

Very very strange indeed!0 -
And how do you know it's a genuine motorcycle courier? Very unlikely, they'd use Recorded Delivery or Special D. Would the bank waste the money on a motorcycle courier?
This has SCAM written all over it; Please let us know how you got on with your bank - if nothing else they need to know in case other customers are being targeted!A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0 -
From Natwests own site about scamsIf received in written format, will probably be grammatically incorrect , contain spelling errors and give you a PO box number as a contact address
Funnily enough Natwest seems to refer to itself as 'Natwest - part of the RBS group' and not Natwest PLC or national westminster bank PLC.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000
