I don't think it's a coincidence, that this week I got my 1st ever neutral, and also had an item go missing in the post (apparently!).
I'm annoyed, but not as much as I would once have been. I used to be really proud of my feedback, but I think now it's almost impossible to have 100%.0 -

I could be wrong, but I thought the first stage in the unpaid item dispute was for eBay to send a "payment reminder" to the buyer. What if they were then to pay and the seller no longer has the item? I presume eBay would not penalise them for refunding rather than sending the item in those circumstances?
The new feedback rules do allow buyers to take the urine a bit, and I think eBay should have a rethink. Ironically though, the only neg I ever got was from an unreasonable seller, who refused to refund for an item which went missing in transit.0 -

Its true they do send a payment reminder, if they do then pay you can let them know it was too late and refund and/or complete a mutual. Depends on the time scale really, if its a few weeks and they haven't paid, then they won't (99% of the time any way). If its just 7 days then they may pay up.
As I've said on a few threads I've always been more bothered by losing out on fees from a non seller than the 'revenge' of leaving them a negative, so have always filed npb reports and have rarely left negs. Having said that I've had a small rise in non payers recently, not sure yet if its because of the changes, an increased in sold items (so possibly %age has stayed the same) or just a blip. I would doubt that Ebay will change the feedback again any time soon (not backwards any way) but suspect they will tighten up on non payers (they are already canvassing opinion on the Powerseller message boards).
We never did find out why the opening poster got his neg though did we?.0 -
I think the problem should also be looked at from the buyers perspective, even when negative feedback was warranted most buyers did not leave it because of retaliation, that made the whole feedback sceme worse than useless.
I have paid for goods that were never received and did not leave neg simply because the seller has about 16000 feedbacks (I have 100ish) and if Ihad left neg I would have received the same in return, this means a dishonest seller gets away with ripping buyers off, and will undoubtedly do the same again.
The sellers part of a sale contract is to supply goods as described in a reasonable period of time as agreed, the buyers is to pay for goods he has agreed to buy, a seller SHOULD leave positive feedback on receipt of payment, how many sellers do? In my experience, most sellers will not leave feedback until after they get feedback themselves, and they give the same feedback when it suits them, as a buyer I often do not get feedback even though I leave positive feedback for the seller first.
Ebay have finally gone to the buyers side instead of the seller, perhaps they MAY have gone too far, but for years sellers have had all the advantages and few of the disadvantages the buyer has had.0 -

The sellers who don't leave positive feedback for a buyer who pays immediately are the ones who have learnt the hard way.
Just because a buyer pays immediately doesn't mean they aren't going to turn into the buyer from hell later. Feedback should be based on the whole transaction and how a buyer/seller responds to any problems. Not how quickly a buyer can pay for goods.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. I was stating facts as in contract law and how it relates to the retail marketplace, not the bad experiences sellers who have made large sums of money have had, I can say without fear that buyers are the people who fear getting ripped off, much more than sellers.
The experiences (good or bad) of Ebay traders is not relevant when it comes to the law of the land, and Ebay have recently had to take that on board in their business practice by ensuring traders make it clear they are traders, by ensuring traders comply with the distance selling regulations, even by ensuring traders have a method of contact other than just via ebay's email service.
As I said, they might have gone too far I don't believe thats the case but I am not a seller (I've sold 4 items in 6 years) but the legalities required some major changes and if Ebay wanted to continue operating in the UK some changes were a legal requirement.0 -

I don't leave feedback after receiving payment and haven't done for many years. The reason was due to a chargeback received after I'd left feedback, so things can go wrong on the buyer's part after receiving payment, for me it has nothing to do with feedback. Waiting until after the buyer has received goods and left feedback lowers the possibility of anything going wrong, that's just in my opinion. The arguments haven't really changed much since the feedback changes, its usually a 50/50 split between who support which way round..0 -
