New rules came in last month, sellers can no longer leave anything but a positive.
Lots of threads on here as many of us are unhappy with the new direction ebay has chosen to go in.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Depends what the neg was for, and whether there was any contact or attempt to resolve the issue beforehand....
I openly admit that I used to issue negs in return for lack of communication or inappropriate use of feedback, but only after giving the buyer a chance to redeem themselves. Not one ever responded to my emails until I issued a neg in return, and then they came cap in hand with a mutual withdrawal. Which I refused. They had their chance to communicate before leaving their neg, and again before I left one in return.
Now I just put a follow up comment on my own page and move on - I've only had one neutral since the rule change though. There are other ways to "seek revenge" if so desired though.
Sadly it's something everyone is having to contend with, but it is a lot worse for the smaller scale sellers. 1 non-positive in 20 sales can cause a suspension.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
It's awful. I got my first neutral today and was fuming. The page stated "Used and in used condition" and the buyer left a neutral saying "Shame the condition of the case was not mentioned in the listing." The casing (it was a DVD) was in fine condition when posted. Had he attempted to e-mail me in advance of the neutral, I would have told him it was fine when it left me and probably even sent him a replacement case at no extra cost.
A few days ago a buyer from Belgium won an item of mine at £40.99 plus £9.99 International shipping. Page states paypal only. After the auction, they contacted me to say they don't have paypal and how can they pay...absolutely ridiculous new rules.0 -

My kind of reply to that would be "Had buyer got in contact before leaving fb I would have replaced the case" Makes you come across as a decent seller and makes them think "Oh !!!!!!, should have got in contact" Then if they do get in contact about replacing the case, tell them its too late. The time for that was before leaving feedback.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

my god you must be bored:D0 -
I've just had same problem. I'm a small seller and didn't realise new rules on feedback. Buyer has contacted me today to say he has no money and can't pay for the item he bid on at the weekend. He said in his email that "if you leave me good feedback, I will leave you good feedback". I thought he must be a bit mad and replied straight away to his email to say that I wouldn't be leaving positive feedback as the transaction was not positive! Went to leave neutral feedback for him and can't!!! Now I will prob get negative or neutral feedback from him and it will be completely undeserved......
Cannot understand the reasoning of this new system at all - very frustrating as a smalltime honest seller....0 -
lizziedrippin, a non paying bidder strike is much more harmful to a buyer than a neg anyway, so just go through the full dispute. If buyer fails to respond he cannot leave you a rating.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks Soolin
I wasn't quite sure what to do - I haven't had to do it before!! I did look at the non-paying bidder thing but it seemed to indicate that you can only do this when a certain amount of time has passed, which it hasn't, as yet.
After having his email to say he had no money and couldn't pay for it ( £3.99 +£1.95 p&p we are talking about btw!!) I sent a 2nd chance offer to the other bidder and she's snapped it up.
Should I still report the non-paying bidder when it allows me to, even when I have sold the item now?
Still annoyed about it - what possesses someone to bid and then say less than 24 hours afterwards that they can't afford it??!! :mad:0 -
yes still go through the full NPB, you can start it 7 days after auction ends.
If you don't do a full NPB you will have paid two lots of final value fees and your non paying bidder gets to walk away without a blemish on their record.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
