Been to my boots christmas shopping evening tonight and i'm very pleased with myself.
I spent £52.13, received £17.33 in points, saved £21.55 in multisaves, received a free bag and cosmetics for spending £10 on no17 and received £5 no7 voucher, used the voucher for one of the lip gloss thingys and got an extra 400 points from machine. Treated myself to a fragrance gift set using 2100 points and still came away with more points on my card than i had when i went. All in all a very satisfying shopping trip.

I went to the Cheltenham points event a couple of weeks ago, and I think there is another this week.

My approach is to be as clinical as possible, I spent £51 and then £52 during the evening (as others have said you do get the 1200 points per £50 if you lump it together), you need to split it if you're going to print the 350 points for a £40 spend from the machine each time, the same goes for other coupons and machine offers, you can field one of a type apparently - so yes to extra points for total spend, a toiletries one, a dental one, etc etc. No bar to using a No.7 extra points coupon alongside a No.7 £5 voucher either.

nb You have to spend £55 to get the 1200 points if you're using a No.7 £5 off voucher in your transaction as it gets taken off before the eligibility of the spend is considered by the till.

Another useful tip, hard-learned by me is that you can't use any double points voucher twice during the evening. Although I had noted that you are excluded from using an individual vouchers two uses during the same day I thought I'd neatly got round it by having two 10% off vouchers but the second didn't come up and when I went back to sweetly point it out I was told that you basically get one against the account no matter if you do have two differently coded vouchers

On a slightly different subject, did anyone else find that their local stores advertised triple points last weekend 'until Tuesday' only to take down the deal on Sunday night and reset the tills so that it wasn't on on Mon/Tues after all... I found a fair person on staff who honoured what they'd offered and put the points on manually for my Monday spend. (In theory I shouldn't spend any money in there for a bit, just points, but it never works somehow!)

    i went in this evening and purchased a 20gb ipod @ £189
got 10% off making it £170.10 and then got over 4200points!
so worked out a really good deal, especially as it's hard to get ipods with any sort of discount on them!

 I've just got back and not one of the advantage point machines were working had a list of things to get for my daughter and she wanted a couple of the lip lacquer things. Never mind - *thinks calming thoughts*

But.............the staff were extremely helpful tonight.
  • I went to a Boots shopping evening last night and picked up the Canon MVC700 camcorder last night for £149.99 + 3,600 points on top of the usual points.

    Thanks to the OP!!
  • If you have two ad cards then the double points voucher from one mailing works on both cards until the sa takes it off you and writes on it that it has been used once! worth a try anyway.
  • miserable manager at york monks cross boots...

turned advantage card machines off last night & would only let me get 2 mobile phones at the till when 2 other staff members told me there was no limit...bit embarassing at the till...

wont be going there again soon....eyes peeled for the next evening somewhere near.

I notice that people have been buying Ipods nanos. When quickly looking through the stores I haven't seen any. Are they still being sold in the photographic section or somewhere else?
