Do you have -'POLICY ADMIN SERV 1@ £7.99' on your bank statement?

Hi
I just wanted to warn any1 who has 'POLICY ADMIN SERV £7.99' on there bank statement.
It is a big con started by Phones4U that is initially 3 months free insurance at £7.99 a month. The thing is they dont send you any mail or the welcome pack they are supposed to and like lots of other people i have been payin it for ages thinking it was something to do with my bank account service. I would be really grateful if any1 knows what to do or if there's any chance i'll ever get my money back???!?!?!?!?

for any1 else unlucky enough to have paid these rip-off merchants for yrs here's the number...........

Policy Admin Service customer services number:

0870 900 6444
be strong they dont seem to understand the word CANCEL!

When opting to receive the three months free insurance, you agreed to keep the insurance after the free period unless you cancelled it.

If you have only just attempted to cancel it, you have no right to reclaim the monthly payments before this time.
    Gone ... or have I?
  • to be honest i dont think it was explained all that well......they certainly wasnt worried about me payin it for 'i dont know how long' when they took my card to pay for the phone. You just think you'll get the first 3 months free and then you have no insurance.....not still be payin for it yrs later. i dont know how they can get away with? (rhetorical question).hxx

You can't claim your money back as you were responsible for cancelling, or not and you didn't. You can cancel at anytime as far as I can see but you should do this in writing AND cancel the direct debit to be sure they can't take any more money. Phones4U should be able to provide the address of the provider.

    It is a big con

i have been payin it for ages thinking it was something to do with my bank account service.

just because you didnt bother checking what it was for doesnt mean its a con.

To be honnest, you will get nothing back and its your fault no one elses.

And paying for overpriced bank "services" wouldn't be wasting money?

From memory they are based in Crewe, I had similar problem about 8 years ago, P4U sold it as "it's free for 3 months and if you like it call up PAS and ask to continue at the {special} rate, if you stop it after 3 months and then want to restart it will cost more"

Of course, I though well it's free and then it lapses unless I continue with it why not?

Oh deary, deary - the mither I had trying to get them to cancel it!

IIRC, the guy that started P4U also ran PAS.

A couple of my friends that bought at around the same time as me all had the same problem (all after being told that it was for 3 months only and if you wanted cover to continue, you had to phone up and explicitly request it.

 I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.

  • Report them to trading standards. that's what i am doing . I cancelled my policy as soon i received my phone from phones4you as i have had a bad experience before. to my astonishment they charged me again!! I just looked into my statement and they have charged me . It's good i view my statements on-line otherwise it'd have been months and i would' t have known and they would have charged me more.
Plus you couldn't tell by their tricky name "policy admin serv" that who is charging you and no phone number!! until i goggled it and got the number off here.
    "REPORT THEM TO TRADING STANDARDS"
What a "SCAM". And how dare them charge me again even i cancelled it!

Same here. So I guess we can't all be wrong;)

Though getting the initial phone contract with them was one of the most depressing experiences ever. Perhaps it's deliberate so you don't ever want to think about it again:D
