Student looking for cheap car to run?

The old Corsa is much more bomb proof car than the Pug.
I think thay Corsa has the chain cam engine against a cam belt on the Pug. The OP knows the Corsa and isn't exactly splasshing out a much newer car if at all. The Corsa is a far better bet for a limited budget instead of buying someone else heap possible rubbish.
The devil you know!0 -
The problem is I get the impression that the OP has set his heart on getting a Peugeot.0

I think you are correct.
But with the initial tone of the thread ie poor supposed fuel consumption theyh are trying to find justification to change.
I just feel that if you are running bangers then the Corsa has to be very near the top of the list for longevity, easy to maintain and cheap to run whilst I doubt the Pug would get close.
Small addendum I also think I would most of the repairs on the Corsa myself not so sure with the PUg.0 -
Could also be that they hope to get a bit of cash from selling the Corsa and buying a cheaper car.0

the corsa is easier to work on and cheaper for spares.
have you driven a 206? it is a terrible drive, girlfriends 206 is 52 plate with 38k miles,it rattles, squeaks, gear change is sloppy, when you turn any switch you can actually count 2 seconds before the switch does anything, whether this be turning on an indicator or headlights or heater, the main ecu on the 206 controls absoloutly eveything on the car so if this goes the car is scrap as it costs a fortune to replace,if the ecu goes on the corsa you should get one fairly cheap.
get a drive in one and you will see what i mean.
there are much better cars for this kind of money out there....work permit granted!0 -
I've read many reviews and like all other products, I'd say on the whole although there are some bad reviews, there are very many good reviews.
Surely you were just unlucky?0 -

I think I'll keep my current car for now and see what I can do to improve it.
May get it resprayed, get rid of the bumps etc and have a new engine put in.
Does anyone know where or how to get a 1.8 litre engine into a Vauxhall Corsa B Model?0 -
Hi Oimi.
Sorry about this, but....
I'm afraid I can't agree with you wanting to buy a 206, my problem I know!
It's a bit like saying I'm fed up with my headache, I fancy a really nice migraine for a change!
