    Good morning everyone :hello:

I wouldn't normally post so early in the day, but my class are doing a writing test so I can't help them, but I can see them from my perch next to the computer - so if they want to cheat, they can't! :rotfl:

It's DH's birthday today. He's 33 and his mum was horrified yesterday to think that her "baby" (cos he's 7 mins younger than his twin sister!) is so old. His request for food tonight was not to be taken out for a meal, but for good old chilli con carne which is currently defrosting at home. ;) I will also treat him when we're on holiday in New Zealand............ only 7 weeks to go!

Right, I'd better go. Have a good day all

    Morning all

Just back from dropping dd off for her trip - I was dismissed as surplus to requirements as soon as her fellow roomies turned up. She'll regret that when she has to carry her rucksack to the coach as she didn't get as far as the garden gate before moaning that her arms were paralysed and could i carry it. It's mostly pillow so not that heavy!

Plans today are to wallow in unprecedented weekday freedom before poppng out to Mr T for meat (dd is veggie so I don't bother with it when she's here) and beer for tonight's big match

    Happy Birthday wmf - hope it's a good'un
Hugs to the poorlies and low

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but never mind, mods can move it if they feel it should be somewhere else!

I went to Currys the other day to look at fridge freezers as ours need to be replaced. Before going in OH and I had agreed budget of £400, spent ages opening and shutting doors, and lusting after the American Fridges (out of price range and too big for kitchen but if only....) anyway eventually found an LG that was reduced by £80 to £450. Outside of budget but everything else matched so we went ahead and bought it. In the car on the way home I said 'I can't believe I've just gone and bought something without shopping around and seeing if I can get it cheaper or at least getting points somewhere for it!' Nearly had a panic attack.
Anyway came home and did quick search on t'internet and found the exact fridge freezer from Dixons for loads less! Had to pay of disposal of old one but found a £10 discount voucher so all in saved £75 and got back to budget of £400!!:T So original price was £530 and I got it for under £300! Went back to Currys and cancelled the other one, turns out Currys & Dixons are the same company so I don't think they were bothered but couldn't price match that difference anyway.

I love being tight! and I love MSE:money: taught me to be much better at budgets!

    Morning everyone!

Lovely sun today! and my neighbours are having their old conservatory taken down - so there's lots of banging going on! I jumped out of my skin a min a go when they smashed the glass!

Nothing much happening at Chez Shez - just popped to lidl to get the musli and mobile phone chargers on offer this week. Then to asda to stock up on the milk offer (2 for £2) which ends 13th! Pretty boring stuff really, sorry:o

Happy Birthday wmf & Mr VickyA & Penny the dog!
    N9eav - ducklings sound lovely!
Scuzz - Well done on your race for life yesterday:T
    Mrs Mix/catowen/Catznine & all the other hussies:wave:
Beth - hope funeral goes ok.
(Hugs) to all those attending hospitals/not feeling well etc

Well done  I'll add your post to the Old Style Daily where we all talk about the ups and downs of our Old Style day.

    Penny. x

I've been running and into the garden. Tonight I'm doing a quorn stir-fry with fresh veg from the garden. I have a long week at w*** this week, so I'm making a spinach and chick pea curry, chilli, and pasta bake so I don't need to cook for the rest of the week.

DH has a bad head cold, so he's working from home today. Luckily he's staying in the study, and not getting under my feet ;)

Happy Birthdays to Victor-A and my namesake, Penny the Puppy :D:D:D

R.Mac - I really think you have got the perfect husband - and I didn't think such a thing existed! Tell him 'well done' from me! Oh and happy birthday for yesterday!

Happy Birthday Mr Vicky and WMF and someone's cockatoo (I think)

I'm sure there are other things I wanted to say but I have only skimmed the thread briefly - I shall have to catch up later.

I am definitely getting over the cold, thank goodness - the last two left me with a hacking cough but this one hasn't so I've not been kept awake which has helped me get better faster - does that make any sense?

I have just got back from the shops; I had to buy some milk and some ribbon - I forgot the ribbon but bought some reduced wool, a huge handbag from a charity shop and a couple of bits of jewellery but I only spent about £3 including the 4 pts of milk! Oh, I forgot - I bought some strawberries from the farm shop - a huge punnet for £1.99 so it's Spag Bol for dinner and strawberries and icecream for pud.

Anyway, I'm 'mioliering' so I'd better go and get some work done.

See you all later and I hope you are all enjoying the fantastic sunshine - it's beautiful here.

    KathyXX

Well, I'd better get some work done
