I kept the card I was already using, and it just downgraded from paid to free to view channels so i got channel 4, 5 and allt he extra BBC and ITV channels without haveing to buy freesat. There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0

Not being able to record once the subscription ends seems a bit harsh. After all I paid for the box and it belongs to me, not them.
I've just bought a Humax 9200 which is superb. Once the current series on Sky One that I'm watching end I'm going to tell Sky to shove their subscription.
If I lose the recording functions then they will be hearing from me I can tell you!Debt in 1993: £35,000 | Debt in 2006: £0 | Assets in 2006: £2.3m and counting. :j

Does anyone have a list of the channels you can pick up with a freeview box. Just moved here and considering my options. There isn't cable here so I only have Sky or freeview to choose from I believe. Whaddya think???0

Thank you for your responses. Do I take it you don't get E4 as it is not in the list of channels mentioned in "http://www.freesatfromsky.co.uk/?pID=3"? Do you get the other channels listed there?
Interesting that we get conflicting views on Freesat and Sky+ (but as long as the recording features will work with just the £10/- per month subscription I don't care. Well I do actually - not a big fan of subscription; but £120 per annum is slightly better than £300 and above). I've called a few different Sky numbers and invariably they tow the official line that I need a digital subscription to be able to use the Sky+ record function. If you could confirm (sorry, re-confirm) that you seem to get the freesat channels in the above mentioned site and the Sky+ recording functionality for £10/- that'll be useful.
Thanks0 -

The Humax PVR9200T will give you just about all the features of SKY+ (or a topfield) (including recording two channels) but for Freeview, if you shop around you can get one for about £219.
Would take two years to recover the cost though if you already have the SKY+ equipment as you've only got the £10 a month fee then (no E4 though)Debt in 1993: £35,000 | Debt in 2006: £0 | Assets in 2006: £2.3m and counting. :j

Hi
I have the Topfield 5800 pvr, 160gb hard drive, twin tuner, record 2 channels whilst watching another one, rewind, pause time slip etc. usb connections for all upgrades and firmware. Excellent quality and reception,
Excellent quality and build, good reputation.
All free to view channels including cbeebies, E4, E4+ etc. slot for a card if you ever want to subscribe to anyone again.
Plug into pc to burn films/programmes to dvd.
And dead easy to setup and use.
And Best of All No Subscription to SKY, saved me £25.00 a month.
The best £250.00 I've spent in years.

I upgraded to a Topfield Freeview PVR with a 250gb hard drive, and sold my old SKY+ box for £90 on ebay.0 -

I have been trying to persuade my husband to ditch Sky but can I reassure him that you can get all the sport channels on Freesat with the box?0
