I've had my iphone 2 months on £35 tariff. Does that mean I an get this new phone for free and just make my contract 2 months longer and keep my existing phone aswell?
As far as the info in the email I recieved......Yes! But its worth checking out for to make sure. There could be something hiden in the terms and conditions."Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass....it's about learning how to dance in the rain"0 -

Not really a hot tip considering that's clearly stated on http://www.o2.co.uk/iphone/ (it's free on some price plans, not others)0 -
Existing iPhone customers upgrade to iPhone for free*
To thank you for being an iPhone fan, we're offering you an early upgrade to the brand new version when it launches on 11th July 2008. You won't have to wait until the end of your existing contract either, all you'll need to do is agree to a new 18-month minimum term contract.
*Best of all, the new 8GB iPhone won't cost you a penny on our £45 and £75 tariffs. And it's just £99 on our £35 tariff and new £30 tariff. This special early upgrade offer is only available online at o2.co.uk anytime from 11th July until 11th October 2008.0 -

* THIS * isn't a formal statement from O2 but it does seem to indicate that your interpretation is correct. :money:Purplepumpkin wrote: »

* THIS * isn't a full review but it may keep you going in the meantime. :coffee:
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

* THIS * is a quote from O2 and says.....Existing iPhone customers can upgrade early to the new iPhone 3G for free*

which I note is what vix posted yesterday, so the 8Gb version is free if you are on the £45 or £75 tariffs (so the usual marketing definition of "Free"). However, I didn't quite get what this means -Don't need 2 iPhones!
We want to make sure you find a good home for your existing iPhone once you upgrade. If you've a friend or family member already on an eligible O2 tariff, they'll be able to transfer to one of our new tariffs for iPhone. If they're not already with O2 or on an eligible O2 tariff, they could get one of our new iPhone Pay & Go SIM cards.
I am assuming it's "What to do with an old iPhone"... so is that a one month tariff for iPhone? Or is it that if they are not on an expensive tariff they get lumped onto PAYG. And aren't people going to sell these phones through classifieds/on auction sites?*I reserve the right to have an opinion, the right to change this opinion and the right to be wrong.*Hope that helps. Just had CPW phone me, as my contract is up. I mentioned the £30 contract on O2 and he tried to tell me there was no such tariff. As CPW & O2 were the only retailers / network to have the deal, he would know about it. He went to O2 website and saw this then tried telling me there will be no 8GB phones as they can't get any in stock.
Is there any way I can get a better deal than the £30 tariff? Otherwise I'm looking for a phone I can use for Wifi with a camera, so may hold out for the N96.0 -

You should also consider the HTC diamond (aka O2 XDA Diamond) as a replacement, which is what I am doing. It has an iPhone-esque interface, and runs on Windows Mobile 6.1. http://www.htc.com/www/product.aspx?id=46278
It has a 3.2mp camera, GPS, WiFi, VGA screen and should be coming out about July time.0
