Ages?
It won't be out for a while as they haven't filed all the required documentation yet. August launch might be possible though.
As such, I am not excited and probably won't get one if it is as expensive as the first iPhone was. £270 isn't strictly bad, but requiring a £35 tariff on top is definitely not endearing it to me. Perhaps I will see if I can acquire a second hand first gen version that has been activated (could then use it on a simplicity contract... or even PAYG!) to play with.
Still, I shall be looking forward to the launch-day antics, with shops opening at midnight to welcome [STRIKE]the hordes[/STRIKE] noone into their shops again.*I reserve the right to have an opinion, the right to change this opinion and the right to be wrong.*Hope that helps. Depends very much on the price point. It would have to be comparable with other phones around (i.e. free or under £100 at a push) on a contract to consider. They're nice phones but I need to be a bit pragmatic.. of course, it depends what they announce exactly too..0

Doubt they will release it in the UK at the same time, the iPhone was released straight away after it's announcement in the states, we had to wait a few phones for the release over here.
Looks like it is going to be subsidised by the networks, but for me £35 a month tariff is still too expensive! Even of the phone is reduced to £100...
Will still be watching keynote though! Any idea what time it starts in UK time?SLC: £13000+
Quidco: £131.24 (paid) + £0 (validated) = £131.24
Valued Opinions: £75 (paid) + £52.30 (received) + £4.50 (pending) = £131.80
StudentPanel: £250 -
I might get one if its easily unlockable and 3 allow it on their network.0

Its possible it could launch over here at the same time as I think the delay last time what due to them having to work out a deal with a network. As they already have a network it would be quite easy for them to do a release here in and in the US at the same time.
Keynote will start at 6PM over here.0 -

the last phone was unlocked in two days...
this one should take about the same
can't wait!
I have people ready in the states to send me one the second it come's out. Delivery will take about five days which should be enough time for the first hacks (jailbreaks) to be done.
I'll use my current sim in it until contract re-newal time, then it will be bargaining time with orange to see which is the best deal for me over 12 months - Sim only or free phone jobbie with an unlock code so I can flog it on e-bay (all on 12 month contract, absolute no chance of me going to 18!)

Not for me thanks.
I have the LG Viewty which I'm very happy with. I'm tied into my contract for another 15 months, but I wouldn't change this phone anyway.John

the iphone was released in June last year, it wasn't software unlocked until the 10th september.. that is not two days.
The keynote is going on now.. they are blathering on about the programming features of the SDK.
As for the FCC filings, that someone mentioned. apple will have made the FCC embargo them, so they're not released to the public until after the announcement date, so theoretically, they could release the iphone 3g, any time after announcement..
