(i googled mrsa mortality rate uk, if thats any help)?
That's scarier still in a way - how did we get a rise from 1400 in 2003 to the BBC's figure of 5000 in the last year? Sheesh!

MY mother had hallucinations many years ago after she had an operation. Reckoned she saw spiders crawling around the walls, etc, gave the night staff a real headache as she kept yelling that the male nurse was raping her. We can look back and laugh :D at it now but at the time it was awful as we didn't know if she would get back to normal. This was from the drugs she was on we were told. She did get better, but as the op was a big one the anthestic did acelerate her dementia & within a couple of years she had no memory whatsoever.

It must be a worrying time for you Squeaky, chin up & take care.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

So sorry to hear that things seem to be not too good. :grouphug:

Do try to get accurate information as to what is happening, and what the hospital are doing about it.

It's so difficult when everyone is so upset.

    Lots of best wishes

Have they said it's the MRSA that's causing the hallucinations? I only say this because my dad had MRSA, but had nothing like this, but did hallucinate with the morphine.

Sorry I can't be of more help, but sending big (((((hugs))))) to you anyway.
They haven't, but my sister's best friend's Mum behaved exactly as my Dad did when she had MRSA - they've been told. That's not medical advice or say so, I know, but that's what my mum is thinking right now. Confusion from toxic shock is very rare (as in a whole 40 cases in the entire UK) so it's still more likely to be his drugs I'm sure. Nevertheless, the doctors as yet do not have an answer as to why he is confused and delusional.

My mum had strong painkillers for the flu once (distalgesic) and was hallucinating and so did my nan on the same pills. Sometimes prescribed drugs cause all sorts of problems.

Yes, I know. They did change his drug regimen and were apparently surprised when this didn't solve the problem. All I can do is wait, and keep my fingers crossed.
