Just so you know when I go missing in action

My Dad had a MAJOR operation on Monday (ten hours plus) which is why I was so distracted and full of mistakes when posting over the last weekend.

Anyway, phew, he's OK and the surgeons were pleased that they cut (hacked) all the cancerous bits out.

He's still in what they call the High Dependency Unit (Is that the same as ICU? Intensive care unit?) and will be there for about ten days though they'll move him to the next level down if he responds well.

So, right now there's no point in me travelling up country to see him 'cos he's so drugged up he'll never know I was there. Not to mention the fact that one of the family will have to put me up and they already have enough worry on their plates to have to bother about the care and feeding of squeakys which, I assure you, is difficult! :)

Well, it's difficult if you don't have any beer :D

My Dad's allergic to it. Did you know that? Well you do now. :)

It's a right bvgger not being able to take him out and celebrate.

So... in approximately ten days from now I shall be wandering up the road to see him - just as soon as my mum says OK. The timing is kinda variable as you can imagine and the length of time is kinda variable too though it'll be a minimum of three days.

I shall be asking MSE to find someone to cover for me, and I know you lot are a good bunch, but I'm going to ask you all the same...

..be nice to the (poor soul) kind person who volunteers to help out...

..be gentle with them as you teach them how to be Old Style...

..do your best to look stuff up for folks because even when it's dead obvious to you it ain't so simple for some one else...

..and as it says above every page - Please by nice to other money savers.

.my unspoken codicil here is "even if they're a pain!". Still be nice :)

This will be my first ever time away from you all and I already miss you even though I haven't GONE yet! How mad is that?!?!?!?!?

  • Squeaky - hope your dad's OK and not forgetting your mum too.

We'll be alright - we'll try not to mess everything up while you're gone

High Dependancy Unit - one step down from intensive care. (My dad was in both, so there is a difference)
