If you look in the Somerfield magazine where they say the price of something there is always an asterisk which says "prices may vary from store to store"

Oops I missed Somerfield out. But this book only deals with the Big 4 Tescos (Who I am now trying to avoid spending money with the amount of money they make is obscene),Asda, Sainsburys and Morrisons (safeway). Those are not in any order.

And it is so sad I can even tell you how tescos got it's name if you are really interested :rotfl:

  • I buy ice cubes, as in the summer I just can't keep up the production quick enough, and my freezer just doesn't have space for loads of ice trays. :o

But I have noticed as I was doing my online tesco shop that I'm finding it harder to get to the required spend for the voucher use now, as most of my shopping from there is for store cupboard ingredients.

And why is it when the bogoffs are on it's nearly always for ready made meals/sauces and other muck?

Don' often see bogoff on flour or yeast or herbs and spices etc do you.

I've never liked those birds trifle mixes or those cheescake mixes. And when you read how many additives are in these thing:eek: .
I now work on the theory that
if its on the label of ingredients, and I wouldn't use it in my kitchen, i don't buy it.

Ready meals are great for some people, but I wish the manufactureers would just cut down on the salt and fats and fillers.

Pre-frozen Ice cubes can come in handy. They did for my sister when she was pregnant as she couldn't get enough of them. The methodology was simple...stuff as many icecubes as you can in a glass and then try and squeeze in some liquid....oh and her son was born in March. Yes an ice cube craving in winter. Go figure.
You're not my sister are you? Oh no... hang on, my baby was born in January  I too had an ice cube craving :) Crushed ice cubes with a squeeze of lemon, I used to eat them with a spoon with the fan on full blast....in December

I'll put my hands up and say I buy bags of ready prepaired veggies......but......only if we're out and get caught short for snacks for the kids, I won't buy chocolate or crisps so normally pick up a couple of apples and a pack of veggies ...yes I know there's probably more chemicals on them than need be but it's the lesser of 2 evils.

I've gone down the cheese string path in my time too - peer pressure forced me there, honest...didn't last long tho - found a decent smoked cheese they'd eat instead and now can't keep up with demand.

As for ready weighed out flour with yeast in it!!!!!!!!!!! DH stands there and weighs out 2 lots of flour each time he does the bread, one lot in the machine, one lot in a pot for next time.....he add's the sugar, milk powder and salt to it too - nice and easy next time!

It's ignorance with most people - they've never been shown how easy most things are and think that buying things ready done saves them time, they just need a shove in the right direction.

Chinese restaurants round here would take that as a compliment...

I have exactly the same problem which is why I've cut back to one, maybe two, deliveries a month from them now, especially since they increased their minimum spend on the £10 off vouchers :(

I used to pad it out slightly with a couple of bottles of wine and a packet of tobacco but they've even got wise to that now and will deduct them from your total in store at the till even if your voucher was accepted online

Same again with the bogof's, it's usually all stuff I no longer use so it's getting harder and harder to pick up bargains these days, and I have enough toilet rolls to last me about 2 months :rotfl:

Would a person living on there own really par-boil ONE potato, slice it and then roast it for 45mins to make ONE roastie. Then take one egg and beat into a yorkie batter to fill ONE individual pattie tin to make ONE yorkshire pudding? What a lonely job creating this meal for ONE only to have to sit and eat it in silence because you are eating alone. Yes! I've been guilty of sniffing at Aunt Bessie this and that in the past but having seen my lonely FIL pop one roastie and one yorkie on a tray alongside his sliced beef in gravy. I see they serve a need. I'm fortunate enough not to be in a position to have to use them (I have others to cook for and eat with. I no longer sniff and am embarassed I ever did:o
