Martin (wishing I'd never read this thread).
To be fair Martin's post does say "This means any comparisons done now will provide false results. Unless you want a fixed or capped rate tariff"..0 -
I put in a transfer on 25th September to go to Scottish Power. After over a week of trying to decide whether to go capped or uncapped, I decided just to go uncapped. DOH!
I saw this thread last night, including the bit about the price increases, and phoned SP earlier today. I was expecting to cancel the transfer, but asked if it was possible to take up the May 2007 capped offer? ie. with the current, not new prices. No problem she tells me, and that they're allowed to put people on the May 2007 offer upto 12th October. I imagine that's for people with pending transfers only, but not too sure.Nice to save.0 -
Thanks Martin. I switched in the week you issued warning & cancelled within 7 days cooling off period. Finally had to cancel by phone, e-mails to both energyhelpline & powergen didn't work. Energyhelpline quite frankly useless taking 19 days to respond to cancellation e-mail.0

you say current prices, didn't the new prices take effect from Monday 3rd October??0 -
Its all very well saying 'don't switch', but its getting critical - twice this week I've had to switch on the electric heater in the conservatory ! I want to switch it on knowing I'm paying 5.868p/KWh British Gas say they'll charge me rather than the 6.36p Powergen are now demanding... I don't get it, everyone's moaning about BGs price hikes and traditionally how everyone can save vs BG, yet as at today they keep coming out cheapest for me (Yorkshire based)
I think I'm going to change my signature to my posts - "am I missing something ??"am I missing something ??0 -

Gambler,
As I said, I applied for uncapped on 25th September.
I phoned Customer Services on Wednesday this week, and said that I wasn't prepared to pay the new prices, but could I be put on the May 2007 Capped offer. ie at the old prices. She told me that as my transfer was pending that I'd have to speak to Sales, but she thought it would be possible.
I spoke to Sales, and said that I had a transfer going through for uncapped, but had seen price increase details. 'And you want to go capped?' says she. 'Err, yes, the May 2007 offer though' says I. 'No problem, we're allowed to do it up to the 12th of October'.
S'pose there's always the possibility of a mix up, and that I'll be put on the later & more expensive capped offer, but the fact that she mentioned the 12th October cut-off date leads me to believe that she understood my request.Nice to save.0
