I love FIRST DIRECT "internet banking plus" and just wish I had something similar for my iPhone. Is anyone aware of a similar app?0

Just need to be careful with these applications, as many banks won't pay out if you have fraud on your account. As you have given the application all your login and password details and under many T&Cs if you do this, you're not protected against fraud.
When I worked for Smile (Co-op) a customer had his login details stolen/cloned or something, and as he was using FD+ he lost money from many accounts and smile would not pay out at all, as they believe using this software is the same as giving someone else your information. He wasn't very happy at all.0 -
My logon info are all blank on this today.
Can anyone recommend something better?

Sorry to bring this up again, is there a way to get this to work on a mac yet? What will I need before I can use Internet Banking Plus?
You will require the following:- account information and security details for the online accounts you want to include
- a PC with Windows XP or Vista running Microsoft® Internet Explorer version 6 or above
- unfortunately you will not be able to access the service using an Apple Mac
- Internet Explorer must have ActiveX® enabled. Once you have registered for the service you will need to accept a small download from first direct. This download uses ActiveX® to create your digital safe.

I was wondering how many people have actually had issue's with the security on their FD+ account, even with the new Rapport software?
I signed up for this yesterday and i think it is a brilliant idea for somebody like myself that has multiple accounts with multiple institutions. It used to take me an age to go through my various accounts and update my personnal spreadsheet.
Just reading through the posts and i'm now a bit concerned about the security of my accounts.MortgageMay 2014 - £255,000.00Jan 2015 - £251.589.00O/P To Date £194.040 -
Few things to note about Internetbanking plus:
Details of all your accounts are stored on your own PC in an encrypted file. If you log on somewhere else no information will be available, so if someone got your password to it you would be moderately safe.
Someone would need direct access to your PC to give you grief.
Because so few people use this software I would find it hard to believe that someone has specifically targeted it to take advantage besides phishing attacks.
I'm a security professional at my company (one of the big 4 accounting companies) and if you have an up to date virus scanner, malware scanner, a browser with anti-phishing (opera, firefox) or use something like Rapport with Internet Explorer I would say there is no reason to be worried.
That said, always check the terms and conditions of your accounts to see where liability lies if you do use it.0 -
I wouldn't touch this with a barge pole. I like having different passwords and access codes for my accounts - bit of extra security. Aggregrating them like this is asking for trouble. Be warned!Just need to be careful with these applications, as many banks won't pay out if you have fraud on your account. As you have given the application all your login and password details and under many T&Cs if you do this, you're not protected against fraud....
.... as they believe using this software is the same as giving someone else your information. He wasn't very happy at all.
I am in full agreement with the two posts above.
Anyone who considers it safe to input multiple bank / security details for anything into one place - I would suggest has a screw loose, I mean why take a risk?
It would be safer to actually write down and keep on a piece of paper next to your PC than trust such software as this.

I was thinking of signing up but FD using your personal data for marketing and credit rating purposes...!!!!!!?!
Add to that it turns out any other organisation can use this as a reason for not paying out after fraud - no thank you!First Direct and Egg use the information they obtain for marketing. The service can be useful but you need to be aware that all your account information that you see is seen by them and collected (except passwords etc).
Extracts from the FD terms and conditions -
How are my account details kept secure and secret?
Your 1st Account IDs and passwords are private to you, and first direct strongly believe they should stay that way. Your details will be encrypted and securely stored in the digital safe, which is created personally for you and stored on your PC. first direct have no way of viewing this information and it is used only from your PC to log on to your accounts in the same way that you would access them if you were doing it yourself.
