Don't know about anybody else but the sunshine this week seems to have woken everything up! Lots of 'pretty' butterflies on the buddleia and the honeysuckle, and lots of cabbage whites getting annoyed at the mesh protecting my precious brassicas (I have taken pity on them and donated a spare cabbage plant - even the cabbage whites need looking after for future generations, don't they?!).

We have had lots of different species of bumblebees all along, but they are out in force today, and I found where another nest is! Under the old fence posts! Also the compost bin nest seems to have its second brood - it went quiet in there for a few weeks but there are workers in and out again (haven't taken the lid off to confirm it though).
And I've seen some honey bees at last! I was beginning to give up hope, but they are about at last! :j

Still only seen one ladybird though :( I did find some larvae on the buddliea a few weeks ago, the larvae has gone but I've no idea whether it turned into adults. But I don't have any aphids, so maybe they have moved to a more fertile feeding ground?!

Certainly looks very much like a Speckled Wood, great pic!!!! :T :D

I've been chasing flutterbys around the garden again this afternoon trying to ID them, but they were too quick for me :rotfl:

Spotted my first Red Admirals today, at Abbotsbury Sub Tropical Garden on the south coast.

Also noticed how they don't have a slug & snail problem. Being a quarter of a mile from the seashore, I'd guess it's to do with the salty winds. Their soil is not the best though; they were watering, and it's not like we've had weeks of drought!

Thank you! I'm not very observant and didn't notice, but with the luck I've had so far this year, believe me, 'every little helps!' :A

And in the post, when I said 'today,' I meant 'yesterday'!!!

Thank you! I don't have many more butterfly pics - they aren't very obliging when it comes to posing!!! I did hatch out some Painted Lady Butterflies last year...
