    Hi guys!:hello:
I've got to pop out soon to see yon apothecary in townrolleyes.gif, but I hope no-one objects to this partial reminder from a previous post I made at the end of last month which is connected to pet's post.
...I guess we drew the short straw, huh guys? Well, maybe not.wink.gif
There's a potentially great campaign just starting this month called 'Moving People' that's aimed at educating people about mental ill health.
As MIND are involved, it seems genuine. I will say at this point that I have nothing to do with this charity, or any others, in any way and obviously, as with everything else here at MSE, please use your own judgement.wink.gif This is from their interim website page introducing the campaign and newsletters at:
''We are about to move a large step closer to eliminating stigma and discrimination from mental health – Mental Health Media, Mind, Rethink and the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London have been awarded £18 million from the Big Lottery Fund and Comic Relief to run a programme to allow us to publicly challenge attitudes towards mental illness in England and counter discrimination against people who experience mental ill health.''
They have already set up 28 groups across the country before their formal launch in June, and are looking to start groups in other areas, offering us training, funding and mentoring. They are even asking for your opinion on how to design the campaign logo. They have also produced a pledge card which can be signed online and also pledge cards which can be downloaded or ordered for distribution or display within our own communities, to further underline this message and campaign. Here's the link for that guys...
    http://www.movingpeople.org.uk/pledge/index.html
Someone is finally making a huge push to alleviate the stigma that many mentally ill people endure. If we can get this issue aired in the public arena, as other stigmas have been, then the issue stands a good chance of no longer being ignored.
This is a real chance for us to be part of something big and something in which we get the chance to help ourselves, imho.
Now puh-leezeguys, don't go running down the street shouting, ''I've got a mental health illness - hurrah!'', unless you want to be spending the night somewhere very soft and quiet!blink.gif That's not what's expected. Imagine the impact that could be gained, if all everyone does is to order a few of these free cards and put them in shop windows, leave them on buses, trains, taxis, in schools, store checkout shelves or medicine aisles, toilets (don't ask me why I thought of that one!rolleyes.gif ), libraries etc!action-smiley-033.gif But no littering ok?! I'm not carrying the can for that one.
And just think how cool it would be the next time one of those doorstep callers knocks and you open the door with a smile, hand them a little card and then say goodbye and close the door?!biggrin.gif
Anyhoo, I hope this was of interest to someone guys. It certainly caught my attention (yes, I know I'm easily entertained!rolleyes.gif), and speaking personally, I'm fed up of being made to feel as if I'm the one with the problem, when the real problem is ignorance.
    Safe journeys guys.sLo_hug2.gif

Welcome to the thread Mrs Pepperpot. :)

    Heya everyone.

How are you today? I have a splitting headache, teamed with a sore throat, nausea and lethargy (I think the lethargy is my normal lethargy.lol.). I've taken some Calpol and I'm in bed with the covers pulled up to my neck watching "The Golden Girls" :)

    :hello: everyone.

Hope you feel better soon Anni, -hugs- .

I feel a bit sick today also, so I'm just going to take it easy. Have two dvds to take back to the library at some point, plus I need to pop into town to collect my photos :) so that's all I plan on doing today.
Hope everyone is okay, and big -hugs- to those who want/need one.

Hi SF:hello:Hope the sickness passes, and i am going to take things easy to,thats what the weekend is for.I have a couple of dvd's to watch to but i get mine from free trials.Have you tried that as long as you cancel it does not cost a penny and sometimes you get up to three months free.
  • i have two dogs atm, to walk. one may have to return to dog sanctuary, as she is getting hard to handle. i always take rescue pets, but sometimes their history can make them hard work, she is the worst one yet
it will break my heart if i do have to take her back though. so enough of me,
it sounds like that headache is nasty, drink lots of water. umm at the risk of sounding like my mum, watching tv wont help it go.... argh isnt it awful when these coments come back and you find yourself saying them, like take your jacket off or you wont feel the benifit of it when you go out side etc,
    i feel old today.
thank you for the welcome lady morticia, tulip, sf and geminilady, i have to do the washing up, its that or the ironing .......... no contest really.
