and ive been signed off another 2 weeks.

I did manage to tell the DR more about what was causing my problems - basically the stuff which was in my last post. I find it nigh on impossible to let people know what is really wrong! lol.

Just to make my life so much easier the community mental health team wanted to discharge DH with no plan or support in place for him other than me. They based their decision on social worker talking to him for about 1 hour - based on this she said he seemed sociable and didnt know how their services could help. No needs assessment done.

Luckily when he had (what they wanted to be) the appointment for discharge he started spouting a whole load of delusional stuff about him having bugs in his teeth and ears and how he reads meaning into and links things together. So they have now decided to keep him on for 3 months. Social worker will see him once per month and psychiatrist at the end of this time no doubt to try and discharge him again.

GP said that they keep trying to discharge people from the CMHT recently - must be a funding problem or something making them prioritise on crisis management etc.

I have to speak to the occupational health people for work later today - and I am really getting worried about going back to work. I couldn't sleep last night for worrying about it and the tummy problems I get when I am stressed materialised with a vengeance this morning. I can't concentrate on my OU course (and that I love and am interested in) so I can't see how I am going to be able to concentrate on helping other people with their complaints when I basically don't give a ***** about their problems at the moment and can't face talking to people on the phone!

Sorry folks this turned into a bit of a rant. I'm off to take DH to the gym and then maybe I can get some peace and quiet and time to think.

Hope you all have a good day.

Alba - I have to put on weight according to the doctor. I have an eating disorder and weigh just over 6 stone. I want to get better but I don't want to put on the weight but I know it's inevitable. :( I feel so fat and frumpy though and I know I look it. :(

Welcome to the thread Kentishlady. :)

  • Hi feelinggood. Am feeling really tearful today. Youngest daughter tells me yesterday that oldest daughter is having counselling too, and that's the reason she has got so thin. I am devastated, what a sh*t mother I must have been/still am to have let my kids come to this,

    Hi everyone!

Ah, LadyM, I see why you need to put on weight. I've never been too thin, so have never been able to feel as you do. I had compulsive eating (mainly during the night) for years but thankfully have it under control now.

I have a cousin who has anorexia which was at it's worst in his teens, so I can understand it to an extent. I just don't know what can be done to help get someone over a eating disorder, I don't know how anyone can change someone's vision of themselves? I know people can get over it and I really really hope you do. I hope one day you can see 6st is too thin, and know you need to put some weight on and you still won't look fat. Did you ever watch supersize v's superskinny? I'm interested in hearing what you thought of the people on the show each week. Can you see other people as 'too' thin?

SB, you are not a s**t mum, not at all. I can see by your posts you care for all your children very much. Many illnesses can stop us from being as good a parent as we'd like to be, not just mental illness. We can only do our best, and you do that.

    Everyone take care today.

Hi Steph - Have you discussed your concerns about anti-depressants? He'll be able to explain about addiction and side effects. Different medications affect different people in different ways, and not everyone gets side effects. You can talk to your GP about this and then you can make an informed descison.

SB - You are not a bad mother. Personally, I've think that problems like this do have a genetic link. There have been lots of mental health problems in my family. I think you should be proud of yourself for raising a Daughter who has the courage to get help when she needed it. You are a warm, caring and loving person. ((Hugs))

Hi Stephb, That's a big step in the right direction. Now you know what's wrong you can get the right treatment and hopefully feel a bit better soon. Most antid's are not ment to be addictive, so chat to the pyschologist about your concerns. The side affects normally lessen after taking them a few weeks, in my experience. I wouldn't let this put me off, when taking something may help you a lot. Hope you feel better soon.
