Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 7th June, 2008 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything ski m through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning. Woke up early after suffering from the hottest Wetherspoons curry and a few beers. Office monthly curry outing.... There were a few interesting people there telling us about their exploits in the past.
It looks to be a sunny weekend. I have taken Saturday off, so I can go to the Royal Cornwall Show. I have not been for many years and so am looking forward to having a look.. We are going with the bro and sis in law and I think they are coming up tonight and staying over so we can get an early start and beat the traffic.
Well work soon. Cheers

Good morning N9EAV and all who follow. N9EAV - enjoy the show! Hope the weather is good for it.
SMOKY - many (((hugs))) to you and the LOs
(((Hugs))) to PENPIN, MRSMIX, BETHEEBEE, JAYWARD, CANDYGIRL'S DAD and everyone else who would like one.
CHURCHMOUSE - :hello: :hello: :hello:
MARTYN - are you still around?
Well, last night I really felt as if I had a cold coming; as I've had two nasty ones since last October I am trying very hard to fight it off! I took some echinacea and had a couple of squirts of First Defence (which my Mum swears by) and I feel better this morning so fingers crossed. I haven't got time for another cold - who has, these days?!
The weather looks promising - I've just looked out of the window and the sun is beaming so I hope we have a decent weekend - it's about time.
Well, off to have a shower - see you all later.

Good morning N9eav and all who follow, (Kathy, you popped in while i was typing :hello:)
Havnt been reading or posting much the last few days, but absolutly nothing happening here, so nothing to say really!!
However, i actually had a call for more childminding last night, so i have a lady and her 2 LOs coming over this afternoon, so fingers crossed there, will mean im then full, so hopefully my money situation will bw a lot better than it has been this last year. Someone mentioned its a job of feast or famine, and thankfully it looks like the famine could be over!!:j
As it happens, i have no children at all today (or yesterday) so although i still have no money, in a month things should be different - and it will be nice to do nothing today, im sleeping really badly at the moment so a day of doing nothing will be good for me today.
catznine - Hope Penny is better today, and WELL DONE on your weight loss :T
rmac - CONGRATULATIONS, wonderful news and so glad you are able to share it with us on the daily :j
beth and candygirl ((HUGS))
Hester - Hurrah that Katy has gone, and hope laddy from Cardiff will be a pleasant change - glad you are able to find a replacement!!
Anniestar - hope Pheobe is improving x

Good morning N9eav and all who follow, well Friday is here again and hopefully the weather will brighten up a bit .yesterday morning was beautiful but it went downhill by the evening. But I live in hope of a couple of sunny days.Well today is day 8 of my 23 days of r/therapy and so far so good .I am enjoying seeing my big brother who is home from france for a few days .he was a bit taken aback by my lack of golden hair ,but he's got used to it now .It is growing back, and my head looks like a little white peach at the moment as my hair has come back white instead of blonde, but its coming back which is the main thing.Nothing too exciting planned for this week-end, just a trip to the library to see if there are any Ruth Rendell books that I haven't read yet.
I have been eating out of my freezer and it still seems to be full although I can at last get the drawers open without too much effort. I can't believe the stuff I have found that I had forgotten about. My cupboards too are slowly going down and I'm determined not to buy anything that I really don't need this month I am off to Norfolk for a week three weeks tomorrow so I'm saving all my cash for that.My new motability car was due this week but apparantly it's been held up somewhere so I have to wait another week for it .I'm only putting a fiver at a time in my car at the moment as I don't want to donate any petrol to the dealer unless I have to. I ahev been clocking up the miles this week by too-ing and fro-ing from Maidstone hospital by like all good cab-drivers I have found a slightly shorter route that had cut the miles down to 12.5 from 17.No motorway ,just through the country lanes .A bit longer time-ise but shorter route-ise Petrol at almost £6.00 a gallon is just too expensive to waste. All my washing and ironing are up to date so I have no chores over the week-end.Well time I got a wriggle on , my son-in-law wants to park on my drive as he has to go by train to Croydon this morning so I had better go and move my car so he can get on there.
<<<hugs to all in need>>> and I hope the rest of you have a great week-end,what ever you do take care
Cheers JackieO xx0 -
Morning all,
N9eav, sounds like an interesting evening..?!? How's the chicks doing?
Kathy, fingers crossed you've held it at bay then - I'm sure we get more bugs going round now because we don't seem to get bitterly cold days in the winter to kill them off???
Catowen, that's really good news about maybe having more LO's - you will be busy!!!
JackieO - you sound very chirpy
. I house-sat in Horsmonden for a friend a few months ago & drove through the country lanes to visit Maidstone (for a nosey round) - much prettier drives that way too.
(((((hugs))))))) to everyone else needing them - I know there are quite a few so please all have as many as you want.
Think Martyn has obviously become VERY distracted....!!!!!
Aussie, no update this morning as date having to be rearranged (the joys of dating when both parties have kids!!!). But will make sure to let you know when it happens
New sink & loo arrived yesterday, 5 days after ordering online & expecting it to be a couple of weeks
As bath coming Tuesday I phoned my builder & hopefully he will do it week after next when I'm away at Grayshott, so I can come back to a lovely bathroom. Found tiles I like too, so must order them in ready.
Off to Uni all day today for an introductory Research Methods session, just next Friday for our year-end evaluation for a couple of hours & that's my 2nd year finished. Where did that go...?!?!?
Have a good day all.

Morning N9eav and all who cross/follow.
Just refreshed before starting the thread, as I couldn't beleive no one had started the thread at nearly 7 am, then I have just thought I am an hour ahead. I'm blaming it on the Sangria last night:beer: , we had a couple of jugs between us over the whole night, while having a meal and dancing to the singer/guitarist (English) playing 60's/70's/80's, no one cares here you just dance between (not on) the tables. A mixture of English/German/Spanish and everyone talks to each other, wishes each other goodnight at the end of the night and see you next week. Think the UN should get together out here!
Quiz tonight, Get together Saturday tea time for immediate neighbours due to one having a birthday, and the Dutch new neighbours going home for the summer. The summer seems to arrived now with a vengance, so will not mention the weather or waking up too warm:o
Think we will have to support Spain for Euro 2008 as we aren't taking part.
(((((:grouphug:))))) all round and  to everyone else. (Chalky pm'd you as answer was too long for here) - Yes I know I can waffle for England.
Take care - DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Morning all,
Another bright day here :T and its friday :T . Got a load in the wm, will get it out once its finished, then over the weekend I should not have as much to do.
The First Aid course was interesting yesterday (Aussie
), one poor delegate had a epileptic fit right in front of a ST Johns trainer, and 12 First Aiders, he was 25 and it was the first fit he had ever had, so we had to call an ambulance, I suppose if its going to happen it might as well be there, , but they are keeping him in hostital for a few days for tests, and told him he probably will not be able to drive again. Got my assesment this afternoon, so fingers crossed.
We have tacos for tea, I have never done them before, but wanted to try something different.
Hopefully if I pass my F/A today I will be celebrating with a glass of someting cold tonight
Hugs to Smoky, jayward, candy and all those in need xx
N9eav, enjoy the show x
Kathy, lets hope you do not have another cold, you really suffered over Xmas xx
Cat Good luck with the new Lady and her LO's x
Jackie, Glad you have your brother with you for some company, lets hope this month rushes by for you xx
Well need another cuppa, and to get DD up, have good days all x0 -
Morning everyone,
the weather is nice at the moment and long may it last.
I`m sat sitting at w**k looking out of the window which is a nice change as some of the places that i work in don`t have one and it can be a bit depressing.
I`ve not caught up with yesterdays thread yet but will do so shortly, Anniestar - i did see DG`s suggestion yesterday for recording Phoebe eating with a webcam, i was going to suggest the same. If you don`t have one they are extremely cheap to buy now.
I got all my dads 3 lawns cut yesterday and also his hair but as i`d been up most of the night and out in the heat for ages i was very tired later, i thought that i would have a nap on the sofa but i slept through the alarm and woke after 3 hours:eek: so quite a lot of what i had planned to do never actually happened.
I made a lovely spinach and riccotta lasagne for dinner and it went down very well, no idea whats for our evening meal today - i need to get my meal planner out and do some fine tuning as the nice weather has meant i needed to alter my plans.
I`ll catch up with everyone later.
Have a lovely Friday everyone.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon

Good Morning All
Congrats Catowen
JackieO - I too love Ruth Rendell
Redruby - good luck on the course
(((hugs))) if you need one
Its a dull start here at the moment, think we are meant to have rain today. Really need to have tomorrow dry as its DS' football presentation.
Went out on my new bike and its really comfortable so am very pleased with that. Wont be using it this morning as need to go to another village to buy some chicken breast. Its my fil's birthday weekend and I am making him some hot currys and chilli to put in his freezer. I did it a couple of years ago when we were really skint and he has asked for it each year. It seems a strange birthday present but mil is a really bad cook and wont eat anything spicy - even mayonaise is still foreign muck to her. She wont even let him buy it but has no choice when we give it to him.
I also need to do some paperwork and ironing today. Must remember to pick up some new pe shorts for DD as she has lost her's again.
Seem to have woken up with a gammy eye, not sure if its conjunctivitus buts its swollen and sore - will be looking lovely today methinks.
Oh well, off on the daily grindstone.
Have a good one.

Morning all
Overcast here at the moment, and I'm out early with the dog, so just popped in to say hello.
Nothing exciting today, just shopping at Aldi / Asda.
Hope everyone is ok x ((( hugs ))) to anyone who needs one xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever
