My ISA transfer was completed yesterday (on assumes) as I have just received the passbook. Time take actually 12 April to 9 June (59 days) Got a nice letter apologising from the Assistant to Member Services (I raised this by email with the CEO, you see) offering £25 - even though there has been no loss of interest because they back dated to 16 May - when their request was acknowlwedged...

I received my passbook today. Time taken from transfer form being sent off is 3rd March to 10th June. I also raised this with the CEO via email on the 5th June but all I received was the passbook dated the 7th June. No letter or compo for me...and I've waited all this time:mad:

I searched on google for the email address for the One Million Pound a year Building Society C.O.E and this was the result shown. :rotfl:

I’m having an experience from hell with the Nationwide and would advise very careful consideration before committing to transferring an Isa to them at the moment. I can only assume that there must be some extremely serious issues within.

I transferred an ISA to them back in late March and was advised in writing from my previous provider that the transfer had taken place at the end of April. I waited a couple of weeks and after having received no contact from the Nationwide via either telephone or post I contacted them and was told that they had indeed received my funds and that I would have to wait a couple of weeks for my certificate due to the fact that they were very busy.

I waited several weeks and after having still not received any contact or certificate I began the extreme task of trying to contact them through their phone system a system I can only describe as totally retched and perverse. I eventually got through this morning after being transferred twice. Well they told be that they hadn’t received my cheque and had just last week sent a letter to my previous provider asking for it. Of course they had neglected to inform me of this situation.

I asked to speak to a supervisor who then transferred me to a manager but sadly I never got to speak to them as I just ended back at the start of the automated messaging system. Unfortuntaely I couldn't even attempt to try and call back as I had to rush to work. I have spent the best part of nearly an hour desperately trying to find out what is happening and now feel totally helpless. How can they tell me they have my funds one month ago and now today when I finally get through I’m told they never received the cheque. I did of course contact my previous provider and they confirmed the cheque was posted back at the end of April as stated in their letter. The funds are still with them waiting for the cheque to clear a cheque that nobody at the Nationwide now seems to have heard of. I shall have to prepare for battle tomorrow and have already issued a complaint via their internal system. I will be also writing a very long letter.

I would go as far as saying my experience today has been dealt with so poorly I could never have imagined it was with the Nationwide.

Thanks for the info. Was thinking of transferring to Nationwide when my fixed term ISA ends but think I'll give it a miss.
  • I think the worst thing is the time it takes trying to get things sorted.

I won't bore you with the whole story, but my partner and I applied to transfer our Princilality ISAs to Nationwide on 9th April. Mine has just been sorted, but a visit to my local branch eventually (after a lot of waiting) revealed that the cheque I.r.o. my partner has not been received.

A phone call to the Principality revealed that both our accounts were closed on the same day and it is likely that both cheques would have been sent on the same day and in the same envelope. After reading all the stories here and elsewhere, I'm inclined to think that the cheque was received but has gone astray in the chaos.

  • I opened a Cash Isa with Alliance and Leicester in April and transferred my CasISA to the same account. I am still waiting for the money to be transferred.

When I phoned and spoke to them I was told there is a delay of over 2 months, they were only just processing transfers that they received on 7th MAy.

When I enquired what would happen if I needed to gain access to my Instant Access Account, I was told I couldn't access the funds and would need to wait until my account was processed.

Is this legal? If it is an instant access account surely one should be able to access the money when needed.

There is a delay of 3.5 months with Nationwide. I asked about withdrawing funds. was told "sorry there's nothing we can do"

Ad - I would definitely recommend writing a letter of complaint in to the head office in Swindon. It isn't easy to find the address, but it can be done with the help of Google. It isn't easy to find on their website.

I wrote an angry letter on Friday and my ISA has now been opened - it isn't showing on my internet banking page, but I have been assured (via the internet messaging system) that it is open. I need to report that I can't see it (goodness knows what that is all about, but I have reported it).

I have got 2 other ISAs, but I am thinking of going to the Halifax with them, as I am totally fed up with the Nationwide.

I wrote a letter of complaint in mid April to the Swindon office, addressed to customer services manager. Needless to say, NO reply.

I emailed Graham Beale on 5th June. Received passbook dated 7th June. No apology, just a standard letter stating that ISA now opened.

Nationwide customer services is absolutely appalling.
