If you buy eggs that have the lionmark stamped on them then it means that the chickens they came from have been vaccinated against salmonella doesn't it.
See this link.

The eggs I buy from the local corner shop don't have the Lion Mark so it must mean that the majority of chicken on the shelves is chicken that hasn't been vaccinated against salmonella.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. Just listening to Jeremy Vine on Radio 2 - they're doing a feature today on how to wash your hands properly, and how often you should do it!!!

Just tuned in just now and they're talking about the guy that got manhandled at the Labour conference the other day. Saw the big bruiser security guard on the news last night - nice cake he said. HUH - Hope it gave him heartburn and he choked.

Did you hear it?? There will be a test later to make sure all MSE'rs are following the correct, 8 step hand washing procedure.
Just dont ask me what the steps were - I've forgotten alreadyI'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. Fine for eggs - and you probably need salmonella free if you use raw eggs e.g. for mayonnaise.
But there isn't an equivalent for chicken ... is there?
Anyway ... low level salmonella in chicken is OK, as it's killed by the cooking process.
I think, without any concrete evidence of any descriptionthat there's probably some salmonella in most chicken - even if it's wrapped in a label that says M&S
Indeed, unless M&S use "exclusive" suppliers, then the farmers providing M&S chicken are also supplying someone else. I think my point is (I knew I'd get there eventually) that you can't be guaranteed that M&S chicken is completely salmonella free. You certainly shouldn't assume so and should store, handle and cook the chicken accordingly.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -

Erm ... Aldi
But re the rest of your post, I've got one friend that checks everything before she goes out/goes to bed ... then has to get up/return home to check it all again.
The other friend I mentioned earlier in the thread had the hand washing one, and germs - especially on her washing. This was in the days before automatic washers, tumble dryers, central heating etc were common place, but if she saw birds flying above her babies clothes etc, she'd bring them all in and hand wash everything again.
I'm getting a bit phobic about superstitions of all thingsI won't even read about them anymore .... it'd only create more worry

Surely, the majority of all chicken contains varying amounts of salmonella ....
Sorry Debt_Free_Chick, I didn't make that very clear did I? (again)
I meant we don't buy raw chicken anymore. We treat ourselves to M&S chicken in sauces ready meals.
And if C_Q's reading this, I meant Aldi's chicken ready meals0 -

You shouldn't feel quilty about buying food from a high quality company such as Marks & Spencer (I have no connection to them;) ), I know from experience how they audit their suppliers......to ensure that M&S food is the best.
Nor should you feel guilty about putting your feet up and eating chocolates........are you listening divadee?:D
Must dash........need to get to M&S to buy some belgian chocolates.......for me.:j10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0 -
I thought that if you cooked chicken properly it killed the salmonella anyway.
Seeing that poor woman on tv has stuck in my mind. She would probably die if she saw my kids' lounge right now...:)Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
