Dirty hands phobia, what's that called. Another thing I'm not keen on is cutting up meat, like chicken. I can cope with throwing it in the pan but if I have to chop it up  .“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. Probably OCD?
And although I don't like cutting up meat, I'll do it sometimes. What surprises me is all the illnesses raw chicken, or uncooked chicken causes.
Although it was a lot of years ago, I used to try, in the most liberal sense of the word, to get the giblets out of frozen chickens. It was nearly impossible at times. It was a job btw, for a large food store. Began with Co and ended in op.
But it didn't matter then. The chickens were put onto spits, whilst still frozen, and cooked. In full view of the waiting customers.
As no-one was ever ill from them then, it makes me wonder what the chickens are being fed on.
And as another warning .... don't try the above at home!0 -

It's like you say with chicken, salmonella and all that, I just can't stand getting it under my nails when I'm chopping it up for curry or casserole so I tend to buy whole chickens or portions which just need to be put in a roasting tin/casserole dish rather than faff about chopping stuff up.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. I can't stand anything under my nails ... so I wouldn't worry too much
I avoid the whole chicken debate by buying from M&S food halls

Interesting discussion girls! Wish I'd stayed up to join in but for once I was tucked up in bed snoozing
I think many of us have an element of OCD in us about various things but it's probably never noticed as such until it actually becomes a problem and interferes with everyday life, and many people seem to associate it more with the hand washing and checking things a million times over, as these seem to be the more common manifestations of it.
I'm another one that washes hands a lot and can get through 2-3 of those liquid soap dispensers a week! ... but don't worry, they're re-filled with cheap Tesco showergels at 49p a go and watered down LOL!
It's not that I don't like to get my hands dirty as that doesn't bother me at all especially with all the animals I've got, and in vet nursing you get "all sorts" on your hands, believe me  ... so I'm not entirely sure where my obsessive hand-washing stems from
Wonder if we have any resident psychologists amongst us that could explain it LOL!
Oh and S_S ... WHERE did you say you buy your chicken from??? :rotfl:"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

This is a wicked website for all of you messy or clean freaks hehe

It has helped me tremendously. It will help you set up a realistic routine and not become obcessed.
and as for hoovering /washing base boards once every 2 months is plenty.

I've subscribed to Flylady for the past year or so and it is brilliant. You're right Freyaluck, it is realistic and very helpful.
You get daily email reminders with manageable tasks for tackling your house. The cheerleader tone of the site is most encouraging. It's done for my time management what MSE has done for my money management. And like MSE, it's free of charge!
The idea of it is that you only do things for 15 minutes and never overdo things. It helps you keep things in perspective, and even sends reminders to have fun, spend time with your family or friends, exercise, whatever."By not unsettling men, you will reassure them. By unsettling men either through timidity or malice, you are always compelled to keep a knife in hand." - Niccolo Machiavelli, 1469-15270 -

C_Q,
Tesco also do value bubble bath at 21p per litre, I use that too in soap dispenser, doesn't smell great but soap's soap. I do have a splurge now and again and buy some Palmolive stuff though.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. I did try that one, and also the value shower gel, but they dry my hnads out too much and then the skin gets sore and cracks, but <touch wood> I've not yet had that problem with the 49p shower gels. The coconut one in particular is very nice to use
I do prefer the Palmolive ones, milk & honey is my favourite, and sometimes splash out on those when they're on bogof, but I hide them under the sink so that only I can use them :rotfl:"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

How does that help?
Surely, the majority of all chicken contains varying amounts of salmonella ....Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
Apparentley, chickens in Finland are Salmonella free! (This amazing fact told to us by a friendly  Finninsh Hunk, to whom we gave a lift from airport, he just said it as he was trying to give us as much info about Finland as possible.)
:T True it is a bit further than your local M&S but a beautiful place to go!Growing old is manditory, Growing up is optional! :j0
