Neither am I :rotfl:
But then I can't go and do anything until I've read all the posts in OS
Obsessive ... moi??? ... nahhhhh
Actually I used to be a bit like Cheryl many years ago and watching her last night made me realise just how bad it looks! I even had a daily routine for my cleaning and if I got interrupted by anything, say the phone ringing or a knock at the door, I'd have to go back and start over again
I've gotten over the obsessive cleaning bit now, although I do still have a thing about if I'm going to do a job then it has to be done thoroughly and properly, and if someone else does it I have to check and re-do it if necessary, but I look around me from where I'm sitting right now and I can see dust on the tv screen, cat hairs on the carpet and last night's washing up is still in the kitchen and I'm not particularly bothered. But then again, if I thought someone might call around I'd be out of this chair like a shot rushing round to clean everything :rotfl:
I still have obsessive tendencies but they tend to lie elsewhere now ... MSE anyone? :rotfl:"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

My final serious point on this subject- to me it's all about diminishing returns. If you let your house get a bit messy before you tidy, your carpets get a bit spotty before hoovering etc. etc. then a small amount of work produces a very worthwhile and noticeable improvement. This in my experience is pretty satisfying:). If you spend hours every day cleaning then you're trying to improve upon near perfection, which is tiresome and unsatisfying:(.
All you folks who keep their house spotless because they're frightened of what visitors would think if they turned up unannounced should ask themselves- would you think less of your friends if you went round to theirs and noticed two days worth of dust on their surfaces? If you would, then I suppose it's fair enough that you live by your own high standards. If you wouldn't then maybe you should get some less judgemental visitors!;)0 -
Nicely put Rave - I would rather be offered a mug of tea in an untidy kitchen and feel welcome, than be in an immaculate house feeling "on trial" in case I dropped a crumb!"This site is addictive!"

If it were me, I'd be torn between thinking 'no flaming way' and 'oh yay, my house is getting cleaned'. :rotfl:
I was annoyed at my friend for the cheek but kept laughing. I turned them down tho because it was rented accommodation and my landlady would have had a fit :eek:jezza1O1 wrote:often find 'extra raisins' in your cakes then? Nice.
I guess some people just like living in squallor - who are we to judge. Just dont expect me to come near ya!
I don't tend to go hunting for my cake ingredients in the armchair...... So no, that has never happened, and yes my kitchen is hygienic.Three years, six months, three weeks, 13 hours, 48 minutes and 30 seconds. 26011 cigarettes not smoked, saving $11,704.80. Spray lots of polish around at 5.00pm, then when Mr P-w arrives home he sniffs the air and congratulates me on how clean the house looks!
It's not exactly old style, but it's never failed yet!

How long did you last before hyperventilating?
Seriously, I watched the programme again, and although I thought the husband was a bit of a bully, I realised he worked 80 hours a week!
Shame about the kids though ... seems they're not at college now?0
