  • Hi, I hope this is the right place to ask, a friend of mine was given some silicone baking tins recently from her MIL who lives in the states, she has got bun tins, muffin tins and a couple of round cake tins. They are fab, bendy and she says so easy to use. I have never seen anything like them here, has anyone come across them? I would love to buy a whole set if anyone knows where they can get them from? and hopefully not too expensive!
    Thanks
i got a set from argos a couple of weeks ago !!
lidl`s do them from time to time too !! ooh and tesco`s extra stores
    hope this helps

    Hi michele :)

I added your post onto an earlier thread which should be of some help.

All sorts of info in it. Good luck :)

Mine feel 'sticky' if I put them in the dishwasher, saying that they're pretty easy to clean so don't mind hand washing them.
One day I might be more organised...........

Try putting it back in then putting it between something heavyish when it comes out (while still warm) to straighten it, can't make it any worse is my thinking here....

I bought some silicon bakeware recently and tried to make fairy cakes in the muffin tin.

I wasn't sure whether the mixture would stick or not so did half in cases and half in the tin.

The ones in the cases rose and cooked through but the ones in the tin hardly rose and were less cooked through in the middle.

Should I be doing something different? Do I need the oven hotter or do they need to be cooked for longer?

    Thanks all.

I find that my cake mixtures stick to the silicone every time - or nearly every time - so I still use cases. And, when I can get them, loaf tin liners from the likes of Lakeland too. Yes, yes, I know it's cheaper to use parchment and cut my own, but I like the cases and liners.

I don't know what we're supposed to do to do it right, but in my experience, I find that cases and liners are best.

Did you brush it with oil the first time you used it as the instructions with mine said to do that and I haven't had any problems. Don't know if it would make a difference but my is an oval tin not a cupcake one.
