When I tried it, I found that it stinks and put me right off whatever I'd baked in it. I can't stand the stuff.
Give me traditional tinplate for baking, any day of the week0 -
Hi
I've merged this with the main silicon bakeware thread. I use mine all the time for loafs and cakes

I use mine a lot, especially the muffin tray for individual crustless quiches (I have them for breakfast), also use the round cake mould for same.
I have a large loaf mould and use it for fruit cakes, things like that. If it's just for us then I stand it on a tray, but if it needs to look good then I sit it inside a metal one to keep the shape better. Haven't had to change the cooking times at all, and they're so easy to use & wash it does mean I make more things.
Btw they're all cheap ones, from Asda and the local market.0 -

I treated myself today to some of the Lidl bakeware - a large bundt tin and two smaller, six-hole bundt tins. Threw together a quick batch of buns and put it in the mini tins and it stuck fast! One lot was ruined, the second one I stuck it in the freezer for half an hour and it came out ok (although with difficulty). So cross, I can't remember ever having anything stick to a metal tin (apart from once when I accidentally greased a tin with eggwash but that was my own stupid fault).
Think next time I'll grease them as normal and see if it's any better.0 -
Hi all
I've just had to get a new combi microwave as my trusty old Panasonic Dimension 4 died on me after 16 years. For some reason I was able to use foil in that - reheated meat/fruit pies etc in own foil and used very shallow foil dishes to cook oven chips etc on combi programmes, but my new Sharp combi is much more fussy and I'm having to buy new cookware for it. My query is - most of you seem to be using silicone for baking rather than cooking. Have any of you tried doing things like oven chips in/on them? I've been using a glass quiche dish but chips work better on something flat - in the Panasonic I sometimes used foil dishes with the sides squashed down but can't do that in the Sharp. Also things like chicken kiev or pizzas, I'm wondering if I could use silicone baking sheets for those? Any advice appeciated
cheers
