I never grease my silicone. Nothing sticks to them.
However, I have heard some people say theirs stick - and some people say it's about quality. It seems that the cheaper ones aren't as pure as the pricier ones and the way to tell the quality is to fold them in half ... the more white you see on the fold the less pure they are.
Having said that, mine are the cheapest possible from Tesco. I've used them for cakes, bread and flapjacks without any sticking or staining or burnt food to scrape off.0 -

hi i have silicon cake tray and they great. I even make the fairy cakes without the cases. what i tend to do is run a knife along...just to make absolute sure they haven't stuck:smileyhea:heart: Mrs Lea Nov 5th '11

Morning everyone, I see QVC are selling Techique 4 piece bake ware with storage case. £19.55+£5.45 p+p. Use Quidco and it all comes to £23.75.
But is it MONEY SAVING? I see on reviews for the baking trays you still need to put a tin one under as they need a solid base for the flexi tray.
Some folk say they stain badly? Some say they stick and need a light greasing first?
The set looks good and would be an improvement on my old trays with the black burnt colour on that will not wash off.
Is it the moden way or should we stick to the old tried out tin trays?If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

I love my silicone pie dish, because I find it really difficult to get a cooked pie out of a metal pie dish. But I find that silicone cake tins and loaf tins aren't sturdy enough so your baking comes out shaped all squashy. I haven't tried silicone baking sheets, but I know some people who swear by reusable silicone liners for baking tins - they might be a more economical option?0

I use the black nonstick tray liners too! they are very good and put circles in the base of cake tins. I am more in need of the tray types, I put the black non stick paper on theese too but when the oil runs off some food that is what makes them so unsightly.I was looking in Wilco's yesterday and 2 new trays would be £10. I guess I should use what I have though but the grass is always greener on the other side.If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

I've only used silicone muffin cases (individual ones not the trays) so far, and they work brilliantly! Cakes come out a great shape, and pop out really easily, so easy to wash as well. Maybe it just depends on the brand? I got mine from lidl and would definitely recommend them.0

I've got a square silicone *tin* and a muffin pan that were surplus to my mother's requirements (bless her!).
I make a gingerbread cake every so often - lots of black treacle - and I really wouldn't want to make it in standard bakeware again as it sticks something awful - but not in silicone.
Muffins - well I make them in paper cases anyway, so they never stick.
I have found the silicone isn't all that easy to clean and mine has marked over time, but it still works.0 -
Love my silicone muffin tray and loaf 'tins', although agree that the loaf goes a bit squashy....have just bought 12 cup cake moulds. Have not had any problem with staining and only use my other tins when making a huge amount of stuff.
