Silicon Bakeware

Does anyone use the silicone moulds as opposed to traditional tins?
I ask this as I was in search of some tins that will produce a spherical cake - ie you bake something that looks like half a ball, then bake the other half and stick them together, cutting a bit of the bottom to make it stand. I have found them on sale in the UK, but only in a silicone mould. Never used them before. What are your experiences? xI have had many Light Bulb Moments. Silicone moulds are FAB - I'm in the process of replacing all my traditional metal stuff with silicone thanks to some Lakeland birthday vouchers. Highly recommended!0

I have used the butterfly shape one for a quiche as I couldn't find a dish deep enough and a teddy shape one to make a sponge. I have resisted using these before as I didn't like the idea but found these in the pound shop and they were ok.Life is not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.0

I have silicon loaf 'tins', large round cake mould and muffin trays and individual cases - LOVE THEM.Put the kettle on.0

I got a few from Lidl last year and they've been great. One of the loaf pans kept sticking at one corner, that corner felt 'different' to the rest so I took it back and they replaced it, no questions
When these finally wear out I will invest in some of the 'better' ones when they're on sale.

Muffin tins which I use for muffins and yorkies; and will be expanding into bread tins and cake tins as and when....0

Hmm quite a few of us then! Are they cheaper generally? I also need to get an oval one for a birthday cake by the end of FEb. xI have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off
