so do you all think that it is better to go al or b&b in egypt

You would need to tell a whole lot more about yours likes & dislikes for people to advise on that.

I would think that is a matter of personal preference and also the facilities in the resort you choose.
  • Hi Mrs E - Sharks Bay is about 10 min drive from Naama and 10 mins the other way to Nabq. We stayed in Sharks Bay at Hilton SB last October.

Alot of the all inclusive hotels tend to be in the quieter areas and a taxi is needed to get to places like Naama, Nabq, Hadaba, Old Market etc. We really like staying along the prom in Naama.
  • Hi in Egypt you tend to get what you pay for and their star system is different to those in UK. There is only one true 5 star in Sharm Four Seasons.
All inclusive can be very good value for families and even if the food is not up to much and you have to eat out all the time it would probably work out cheaper than going b n b because you will get your moneys worth in soft drinks during the day and snacks anyway. But remember if the food isnt good you will have to consider the cost of taxis if you dont have restaurants within walking distance. We have stayed all incl in a few and they can be very hit and miss. The best has been Tropicana Garden Palms. People rate Hilton Sharks Bay but we were not overly impressed and wouldnt return there.

thanks for the help, myself hubby and 14 year old daughter are thinking of going october time and i thought al might be a good way of going if only for the drinks and snacks round the pool during the day as we like going out for meals at night, im a bit put out of at the thought of having to get taxis tho, i thought hotels would be near to everything, well within walking distance,
may have to have a re-think .... thanks ellie

I think the Sonesta (?) is well situated - central & soon to be (or already) AI.
  • We have always found the staff in pharmacies in Luxor to be very knowledgeable and helpful. There are one or two right on the tourist trail (e.g. between Maxime and the Isis) who tend to have 'special' prices for tourists, but if you avoid these and go just a few hundred yards off the main road, you should find what you want. They have imported medications and local versions at a fraction of the English prices.
Obviously it is sensible to take regular meds with you, but I would say don't be reluctant to go to a local pharmacy if you need to.
  • Hi there are a couple of all incl in Naama bay but the better ones are in places such as Ras Um el Sid, Garden Bay, Sharks Bay etc. There are more in Nabq and here there are shopping malls within walking distance. Try looking at the new Loius Tiran or the Coral Sea.
There is nothing in Sharks Bay - hotels at Ras Sid have Il Mercato and Alf Lela down the road and some are within reasonable walking distance. There are also some in the Old Market area.

Thats the one I booked, but I had to change it, as it won't be ready by next Sunday:rolleyes: :rotfl:
  • Hi Mrs E - that one is at the far end of Nabq and we drove passed it last week. If it is anything like the artisits impressions it will be fab.
