    Thanks herecomesthesun

    6 days to Sharm!!!!

    How Hot???!!!!!
  • Last Monday night it was 37 at 11pm!! That should give you an idea. I would say it was over 40 every day. Take plenty of high factor suncream and aftersun, lipsalve. The exchange rate is normally better out there and last week it was only 10.40. On all the trips last yr each time we were getting over 11. There is no longer the Thomas Cook Exchange in Naama Bay. There are lots of banks though. Most hotels also have ATMs and you can now put in your sterling notes and exchange it to LE although this was slightly less at 10.28 to £1. If you want to book trips shop around as they reps are alot dearer. We used Sharm Club for transfers who were brill at £5 each way for 4. If you want to go to Luxoe or Cairo it is alot cheaper to book the flights yourself online in the UK with Egyptair and we also book our own guide and driver. You normally get cheaper air prices if you when you enter the site you pick Egypt and not UK as your country and much about with the dates and times as well. Sharmclub prices are reasonable so are Charm of Sharm and Sunnfunsinai. They all have websites where you can compare the prices. Highly recommend the day boat trip to Tiran Island and you I think Sharmclub sell this for £15. We have been on this trip lots of times and you have a lunch on board and unlimited soft drinks and have the chance to snorkel at 2/3 different stops. There are a few go kart tracks and we used the one in Hadaba and cost was £15 for 15 laps including transport. Old Market is cheaper to shop but I find this dirty and full of stray cats and rubbish. Naama is cleaner but busy and you get alot of hassle.
There is a lovely new mall called Il Mercato in Hadaba that has lots of International brand names such as Mothercare, Clares, Bodyshop etc. You dont get hassled here. Nabq is up and coming and was lovely. There are 2 new malls called La Strada and Al Khan. Above Mc D's here there is a lovely bar looking out to the sea called Malibu and a little further along another trendy one called Zone Lounge. You will need to know what to expect to pay for taxis etc as they will try and rip you off.
Any ?? please dont hesitate to ask.
  • Ps know people that have stayed twice in Reef Oasis Blue Bay and they really like it. It is near to Old Market and not too far from Il Mercato, the new waterpark in Hadaba and Alf Lela W'lela.
  • Ref the visa - you only need one if you are going out of Sinai to for eg Luxor or Cairo and you also need one if you intend going to Ras Mohammed. If you cant get any USD give then a tenner and make sure they give you at least 20le change. But they will prob say they havent got change so do try, to save time and arguments, get USD. They also take LE and Euros as well. If you dont want a visa write Sinai only on the back of the landing card and walk straight through to immigration.

Could you be talking about the old one the Reef Oasis Beach Club (I think thats out by the old market), the Reef Oasis Blue Bay is new last year. Apparantly you have to be very careful when getting a cab, that you make sure the cab driver knows you mean the new one.
They are owned by the same people.

    GREAT INFO, thanks:beer:

I'm pretty sure the Ras Um Sid one is the Beach Resort/Club one. I think this one has been refurbished lately.

Mine is in Sharks bay, next to the Crown Plaza & I think its the Four Seasons the otherside (I just remember it was swanky;) ).

I'm just in Sharks bay, just a tiny bit around the corner from Namma bay.

The Blue Bay (mine) started taking people about May/June last year, nearly finished, they are still waiting for the big glass lifts:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
