New Phone - N95 Black?
It's coming round to upgrade time for my phone and I might finally change from the amazing Sony Ericsson w810i. I've had that phone for quite a while now and have maxed out it's possibilities (as far as I know) by getting tv episodes to play on it, giving it a new interface etc.
Tried replacing it with the Nokia 6300 last year but just didn't like the 6300 so gave it away as a Christmas present and went back to the w810i.
This year there seems to be a suitable replacement in the Nokia N95 Black, I'm with t-mobile and they're giving them away with the price plan that I'm currently on so I figure I'll get that with some extra credit or something.
Has anyone heard anything bad about the N95 Black? I think the 8GB will easily do for me, too much memory seems to slow phones down anyway at the moment. I want the big screen so I can watch videos better and also to read e-books. (I've heard it comes with a pdf viewer?)
So just looking for opinions on this phone, recommendations of any similar and also how much do you reckon I can get out of t-mobile or will the person dealing with upgrades be given strict guidelines?
EDIT: Also can someone explain to me how internet works with phones as I've never used it on a phone. Does wi-fi mean it's free in free wi-fi hotspots, are there specific limits of how much browsing? Is email ever free? Lol I really have no clue about it!

I’ve just ordered one of these too. I love new toys and can’t wait to get my hands on this. Three have offered me a very good deal as I have been with them for about 3 or 4 years. Whether I will use the ability to watch movies on it, I don’t know, but it’s fun to have the possibility. What I mostly use my phone for is texting, talking (catch up on loads of my calls driving to work) and playing games. Don’t use the camera much as I’ve always preferred using a ‘proper’ camera. I guess I might start using the calendar. I must investigate using it as an MP3 player as this is the 3rd phone I’ve had with the facility and I still use a separate MP3 player. Perhaps I could use it for downloading podcasts. Any feedback on it would be welcome. Can you really get your emails on it and use it to surf the net? My technical understanding is fairly limited. We have wi-fi at home, but would it work in hot spots or pick up on other networks?0

I'm pretty sure it has internet access but like you my technical understanding of that aspect is limited.
The w810i was great for using as an MP3 player for sitting down and studying or travelling or whatever but I find I prefer a more sturdy lighter MP3 player for things like the gym. That's when cheap Ipod shuffles come in handy so it really depends on what you use your MP3 player for.0 -
Hi, yes the phone does have internet access, you can use either your mobile network to connect or if you have wireless connect though that and you are not limited.
It will search for other wireless networks if you set it to but this can be disabled, it can also connect to wireless hotspots but usually requires a password. As for e-mail, you can access these if they are web based ie yahoo, hotmail etc0 -
Ugh, t-mobile are so frustrating.
The woman I spoke to was friendly enough but sounded very restricted about what she could do no matter what I said. Basically as an upgrade they said they could over me £180 credit over 18 months for the combi 30 deal so I end up paying £20 a month for 600 minutes and unlimited texts. Very good offer but I wanted a new phone.
I explained that I wanted the N95 8GB and also asked for info about the internet package, they offered unlimited browsing for £7.50 a month. After finding this deal with t-mobile,
http://www.e2save.com/contract-mobile-phone/Nokia-N95-Black-8GB/N95BLK8GB
of Combi 30 plus £70 for the handset I figured I could maybe get a free handset or just that deal with free internet or some sort of discount and I would've been happy.
They came back after a bit of silence with the Combi 30 deal plus £80 for handset. Worse than they offer new customers, albeit not from their official website.
I tried to squeeze any sort of deal out but she wouldn't budge and claimed I was already saving hundreds on the handset. So I'm cancelling, the code to keep my number costs £24 now or free at end of the month, so I'll cancel then and probably end up getting that new contract.. with t-mobile.. lol it's ludacris.
I'm sure once I get to the cancelling stage they'll suddenly be able to offer me a special deal. Just annoying I couldn't get it sorted now.0 -
just make sure you answer your phone when retentions call you.
How much are your monthly bills roughly?0 -
On the Flex 35 one at the moment so paying £35, sometimes go over it but rarely.0

Are t-moble now doing the N95 8GB as I was going to leave them next week when my upgrade is due as thats the phone I want. I still can't find it on their web site.
Cheers for the help0 -
Yep they're doing it but as you say it's not on their website yet however I was offered it as an upgrade. Although as I said at the moment it seems it's better getting a new contract with them via e2save,

Than carrying on the current contract for some bizzarre reason.0 -
Hi
my friend has one of these and I was so impressed. The way it handles pictures is amazing, a bit like vista - you have a circle of photos that go round until you pick the one you want, brilliant.,Quality is great, big screen etc. I would definitely get one of these too.
